Matsuo recalls the 'CHAOS;' During the design process of 'CHILD', it was explained that Sasaki initially designed the character designs with a more restrained character design for a more serious storyline. The staff then hoped the finished product would be easier to recognize Sasaki's style, resulting in changes in the hairstyles, colors, and costumes of most characters.

Shibata explained Nene's body shape requirements to Sasaki Mutsumi in writing, and Sasaki proposed a cat-mouth design based on this. Xiao Sora's sketches were harder to stabilize: slight differences in the shape of hair ends and cheeks easily led to a boyish appearance, so Shibata asked Sasaki to help correct them.

The addition of short hair and large ribbons for female characters in "Twin Thoughts" was a design requirement Shibata gave to Sasaki. The project also arranged old school uniforms, current school uniforms, and casual clothes for the characters, and created exaggerated comic-style expressions to enhance their dialogue variation.
