The beginning of a breakup

Isshu Sagisawa, a third-year student at Hamasaki Academy, dates Inori Ryō, his girlfriend from the same grade. As Valentine's Day approached graduation, Inori invited Yiqu to the old seaside church—the place where she once confessed to him—but there she handed him chocolate and the decision to break up one-sidedly. The sudden farewell left everyone bewildered, leaving the "reason for the breakup" and the future of their relationship as part of the story.

Reorganize the daily routine

The emotional pivot of the story is loss and rebirth: Ichitshu is unwilling to lose his feelings for Inori, and also encounters classmates from Hamasaki Academy, his sister, and other female characters. After seeing her brother break up, Sagisawa Eni is determined to make him happy; Fujiwara Miyabi, model Karin Hanamatsuri, and part-time worker Yoya Nonohara each brought different life backgrounds to his circle.

Romance, adventure, and characters

The official classification of this game is a romance adventure game. The protagonist must respond to new relationships and choices while still caring for their old lover; Character introductions also show that characters are not confined to the same class. For example, En is a second-year student at Hamasaki Academy, Miyabi and Issu are both third-year students, and Karin is already a university student and also works as a model.

Edition and production

The PSP version was released on August 14, 2008, with character designs by Yukihiro Matsuo and Takayuki Koshimizu. The game previously released the original PS2 version, as well as PC and SuperLite 2000 versions; The character and story introductions here are based on PSP version materials.

Valentine's Day in the Rain

Sagisawa, a third-year student at Hamasaki Academy, has a smooth relationship with Inori Ryo. Inori asks him out, and while handing over chocolates, she breaks up with him, which becomes the starting point of the story.

School and family

A younger sister's affair makes her lost older brother happy; Miyabi attends the same school, comes from a kimono shop family, and is a member of the naginata club. Inori enjoys piano, cooking, and guessing riddles, and often places her wishes on dolls.

University and work

Karin studies at Aomine Gakuin University and works as a model, nicknamed Rikarin. Ye Ye is a worker often lost in cosmic imagination, and his whereabouts when he goes out alone at night are not revealed at first.

Added prequel and independence epilogue

On August 14, 2008, the PSP version added the Prologue Story of Ichichu and Inori's Reunion, with illustrations by Yasuhiro Ikeda. The standalone work again follows the three endings of Inori, Miyabi, and Karin, and the two are not merged into the same additional content.

Design, dubbing, and high-definition recording

The original was released in June 2004, with the PSP spec page listing Yukihiro Matsuo and Takayuki Koshimizu as responsible character designers. In the main story, she is played by Eriko Ishihara, and in 'again', the cast is by Sayaka Narita. Historia Volume 1 was HD-included in 2021.

Inori True: The Reason for Rina's Breakup (Historia Main Story, Spoilers)

Isshu's childhood leaves the hospital with Tsubasa-chan, who is afraid of surgery, and on the way they encounter a car driven by Yoya's father, who also dies in the accident. The true route reveals that Tsubasa-chan's real name is Rina, who later passed away after surgery. Inori, who shares a hospital room with her, once disguised herself to encourage Ichitaka, who closed himself off after losing her. Tobi cannot accept the dismissal and forgetting that Rina and Inori are impersonating her, so he exposes the past to force Inori to break up.

The Church and Reconciliation (Historia Main Story True, Spoilers)

Ikki finds the second button she had given Inori at the church and discovers that her old phone is intact, with a letter inside explaining that she and Tobira have no romantic relationship. The fairy tale evokes old memories, and Tobira's explanations and Rina's mother's words ultimately help him understand the past. He decides not to forget Lina again, repairs the church, waits for Inori, and confesses to her herself.

The accidents each carried by Yeye and Karin (Historia main story, spoilers)

Ye Ye also sat in the car his father drove in childhood; On her personal journey, she still believes her father is alive, and only then does her mother tell Yixu that her father is dead. In the main ending, her mother and Kanata help her deal with her father's belongings and secret base. Six months later, Ye Ye comes to celebrate Ichui's birthday as they move into their new home. Guo Lin felt guilty for telling the adults about the two children leaving the hospital years ago; Her current route allows Yixu and others to form a defense team to deal with the stalkers.

Family Identity and Marriage (Historia main story, spoilers)

Enki's route reveals that Isshu was once adopted by the Sagisawa family, and the two are not related by blood, which Enki Hatsu did not know. The route begins with pretending to be a lover to cope with a family engagement, with Ayumu Kise bringing photos of her blind date and post-graduation engagement arrangements driving conflict. In the Sayorin's branch, her secret crush on Shin is revealed by Ichishu. After being rejected, Ichishu visits her multiple times and eventually accepts her feelings by the seaside.

A companion in a café

Narazu and Yuzui serve as the agent store manager, and Ichitsuki and Kaya work part-time here; Karin is a regular customer. Karin, Kayo, and Kanata have connections at the same school, and both Karin and Kanata are engaged in modeling. The piano teacher-student relationship between Hotaru and Inori, as well as Shin's visit, also bring characters from previous works into the daily life of the main story.

Prologue's Supplementary History of Their Relationship (Historia Edition)

The three chapters follow Lina, others, and her own feelings as clues: Inori recognizes Itshu in high school, and because of Rina's entrustment, she cares for him, gradually realizing her feelings for him. After the invitation to the fireworks festival, he immediately took her to church, where she confessed; This breakup precedes the beginning of this story.

Original script requirements

Recalling the 2004 PS2 original, Naotaka Hayashi explained that he received a request to reference the plot structure of "2nd" and to include family, parents, and other surrounding relationships in the ensemble. The specific constraints of writing start with the breakup with the female lead, while most other developments are left to him to decide.

Character theme tones

When producing "Rikari'n - a young lady -," Abao compared about four multi-sampled guitar tones, chose the rounder one, and fine-tuned the pitch and timing of articulation.

"Hotaru - firefly -" is inspired by Hotaru growing up, softening the piano and synthesizer base notes. Abao also resampled and edited the sounds from the debut game and loaded them into the PS2 audio source.

Ending music and pre-production

Near the deadline, "Let bygones be bygones" and "For Memories Off" switched from built-in audio to ADX playing. The former uses about 70% REASON and 30% PS2 audio mixing; The latter also retains the PS2 sound source characteristics, using both sources to process string and percussion together.

When Ichikawa further asked if piano pieces could be added, Abao proactively recommended the main theme "With memories" from "2nd," and produced a piano version of this work using only REASON.

The original "Image Theme" was written before Abu was still creating over 400 sound effects for "Remember11." He uses KORG Trinity and Roland JV-2080, conceiving piano, bells, and underlayer strings; This song was not included in the main series and was included in the first limited edition CD.
