Accidentally entering a strange world
While shopping in her hometown's shopping street, Rin suddenly finds her surroundings unfamiliar: the sign is unreadable, people can't understand what people are saying, and the sky is pink. When she was helpless, she met Luca, who reached out to her in barely fluent Japanese. The official website states that Rin is a visitor from another world and mentions other visitors.
Juliamo and communication
Unable to fluently use each other's familiar language, Rin began learning the local lingua franca Juliamo. The work is set as having this artificial language based on similar languages used by past visitors, and is used as the first language in specific regions. The developers confirmed that Juliamo in the game is based on the real-world language Esperanto; The Japan Esperanto Association participated in supervising the text. Language barriers are therefore part of the plot conflict and the source of the actual learning content in the game.
Learn how systems serve stories
The official introduction lists learning, review, and homework modes: players can learn vocabulary through Q&A, practice independently in review mode, or set quizzes as homework to prioritize storylines. The words Rin has mastered gradually appear in otherworldly script from katakana; After clearing the level, you can choose to keep the translated subtitles or switch to a mode where the translation is not displayed. These designs allow learning progress to be directly reflected in the reading experience.
Relationship narrative and distribution
The original Japanese PC version was released on August 25, 2017, developed by SukeraSparo. The Steam version released on June 21, 2019, was published by MangaGamer and mirai works, offering Japanese dubbing as well as Japanese, English, Chinese Simplified, and Traditional Chinese text. Original artwork and character design are by Chisato Naruse, script by J-MENT, planning and direction by Koji Minagawa, and music by Koichi Matsumoto. Language supervision was handled by Kenichi Fujimaki, with assistance from the Japan Esperanto Association.
The title and the relationship between the two
"Kotono no wa" means "language," and "Amrilato" combines the roots of Esperanto meaning love and relationship, referring to romantic relationships. Rin is not good at studying, but tries hard to memorize words to express her feelings to Ruka; The process of players learning an unfamiliar language synchronizes with the character's gradual approach.
A daily life where language barriers are not communicated
Rin accidentally enters a world where the sky is always pink. Ruka helps her in barely fluent Japanese, while Rei works at the Visitor Management Bureau and the library. Juliamo is the local articula franca, and the similar languages of successive visitors have contributed to its formation.
Learning and reading
The learning mode uses questions to practice language, while the review mode can run independently; Homework mode allows you to read the story first. The words Rin learns are converted from katakana to isekai characters, and after clearing the level, you can choose to display either a translation or a complete isekai mode.
Music and Language Production
The theme song 'The Road to the Path to the End' performed by Sagaryoshi was written by RYU, with J-MENT responsible for the chorus lyrics. The ending track 'Hatsukoi Mikoi' is performed and written by koro, composed by ryo, and arranged by 24Bit Lolitas. Kenichi Fujimaki served as language supervisor, with assistance from the Japan Esperanto Association.
Japanese dialogue, translation drafts, and vocabulary macros
In 2017, during the production of the Japanese PC original "Koiwa Amrilato," J-MENT first planned scene dialogue in Japanese, then exported the corresponding Esperanto expressions, and finally entered the message window to display the required word macros. The character art was also specifically adjusted: Chisa Naruse and Arin changed their usual character portrait orientation and tied their hair, and Haruka brightened Ruka's hair color according to Koji Minagawa's wishes.
Mobile gestures and saving
On mobile, you can tap to advance messages, select options, and select menus. Swipe right to skip reading, swipe left to enter automatic reading; Swipe up to hide the message window, swipe down to open the backtracking log. Tapping both points simultaneously opens menus such as saving, reading, and environment settings.
Differences between mobile downloads and versions
The mobile FAQ states that you need to download data for the first start, and thereafter you do not need to stay connected to the internet for subsequent play. When purchasing story unlock keys, additional data will be downloaded.
The official comparison between the mobile version and PC v1.03a clarifies that the mobile version does not have "Anytime Dictionary Mode," and some scene CGs have been adjusted. The FAQ also states that the relevant scenarios were not deleted, but were modified according to the streaming platform's specifications.
Google Play Unlock and Account Recovery
The story unlock button on Google Play converts the demo into a product version that allows you to read the entire storyline. After switching to an Android device or initializing the game, use the Google account used when purchasing and re-download the game to restore unlocking; Android and iOS are separate products and cannot be inherited across operating systems to this purchase.
