A journey at the end of the Ming dynasty
The story of Steam merchandise is set in the year 1632, depicting the late Ming dynasty through famine, war, and harsh policies. The bandit Liang took on the task of transporting four girls from Huazhou to Luoyang, initially thinking they would be sold as adopted daughters. Mitsuho then tells him about the buyer's connection to the pig demon and asks Ryo to give up his job and help her get revenge; This information comes from her opening remarks to Liang.
The story begins in the fifth year of Chongzhen (1632), with the journey starting from Huazhou, passing through Wenxiang and Shanzhou to reach Luoyang. Famine, war, and uprisings surround the journey. Liang is entrusted by Ren Yazi to transport four girls, initially thinking the buyer only wants to adopt them; Mansui tells him that her employer is a pig demon who killed her sister, and asks Ryo for help in revenge. Liang did not fully believe this explanation; uncovering the truth behind the journey became the premise for subsequent choices.
Goodness fills the ears with full ears
Steam character introduction Ryo Ba Liang comes from a merchant family: became a refugee after the Apocalypse explosion, later made a living by looting; The companion's tongue is responsible for extorting valuables. The shop page refers to Mitsuho as a nine-year-old mute girl and records that she willingly let herself be abducted to get close to the yokai. However, the same character's profile clearly warns that part or all of her account may be false, so this background should be regarded as the game's presentation of the character's account, not an objective truth already confirmed.
Liang comes from a merchant family, loses his family and life after the Tianqi Explosion, and gradually becomes a bandit; The accomplice's tongue is in charge of negotiation, while Liang is responsible for taking action. Misui travels with him as a mute girl and claims she was abducted for revenge. Her account carries suspicion, and the character introduction clearly points out possible lies. The story gradually reveals her motives as the journey progresses.

Steam labels the game as a visual novel, containing about 160,000 words, nine possible endings, and multiple choices. Players influence their journey and ending by reading the main storyline and making decisions in key scenes; The product page also lists famine, trafficking, revenge, and cannibalism as themes in the story.
The work progresses through text reading and key choices, featuring nine different endings. Players make decisions for Ryo based on information gathered along the way and judgments about the character; Each ending reveals different choices. The creators use travel and revenge during famine as the main storyline, weaving trafficking, survival, and trust issues into the same itinerary.

Liang, Sui, and tongue
Liang's family was originally in business, but after the family was destroyed, they became bandits; The tongue is responsible for negotiation, while he is responsible for taking action. Sui tells the story of her sister and the pig demon along the way. The official sources clearly state that her account may be partially or entirely false, thus separating the character's statement from the final truth.
Production and soundtrack
Ji Ling was the producer and responsible for the entire script, while Leng Quan Yeyue served as the voice director; The game's soundtrack lists Lin Ark and Wang Ziyan. The fifteen-track original soundtrack is listed separately by Lin Fangzhou, including works such as 'A Thousand-Mile Journey of the Late Ming,' 'Lianghui Encounter,' and 'Shadow Puppetry,' with no need for a full table to replace individual track credits.
Placing the child and breaking up with their accomplices
Tongue learned in Wenxiang that buyers in Luoyang intended to treat the child as a vegetable servant, but still insisted on the deal. Upon arriving in Shanzhou, Liang decided to withdraw, but his tongue attacked Man Sui; In the branch that trusted Mansui and saved her, Ryo killed Sheshe and went to Jiezhou to find his old acquaintance Yuan. Yuan takes the sisters to work at the inn, lets the abducted Qionghua wait for her family, and Liang only takes Mansui to continue to Luoyang.
Shadow Play and the clue of father-killing
Mansui's shadow play comes from her father. After her father went out to sell the family heirloom for grain, he disappeared. When Mansui fled famine, she first learned cooking in Weinan, then received care from Sister Yun at Yanyue Tower in Chang'an, where she was cared for and investigated for revenge. She eventually finds the purse she had sewn for her father at a pawnshop in Huazhou and discovers that the killer is a conscience. Along the way, Kyoryo acts and helps save other children, causing her revenge to conflict with the trust among her companions.
Different choices after Luoyang
In the "Not Shown" ending, Mansui leaves on a night of fireworks, leaving behind a purse; Ryo only found shoes and footprints by the lake, and never saw her again. In "Die Together," Liang caught up with her in time, and the two used their shadows to assassinate the prince and face death together. In 'Tongsheng', Liang seeks refuge with Li Zicheng, and nine years later, in the story of entering Luoyang, he reunites with the grown-up Man Sui, and then they travel together to Yangzhou to visit his sisters. The three endings unfold separately, and the characters' fate changes with the branches.
Shuigou Village failed to supply supplies
The group originally planned to go to Shuigou Village to find contacts to replenish grain, but cannibalism had already broken out in the village. When Lianghe Tongue discovered the remains in the house, the starving people were trying to prey on the four children. After repelling the attackers, the two left with their children. Due to insufficient provisions, they switched to Wenxiang, where Shetiao learned from Li Gui the purpose of the vegetable people.
The grandmother's story and the father's choice
In 'Grandma Mansui's Illness,' the story of the Huashan pig demon kidnapping four children, one of whom hides a knife and resists, but dies before finishing. Later, Miruho used this fairy tale to weave her own story. Her father took her to a neighboring town to perform shadow plays, but when income was insufficient, he sold his theater box to exchange for food; When his mother further suggested selling Mansui, he chose to go out and sell the family heirloom.
The cook behind the cloth shoes
Mansui fled famine to Weinan, and while sleeping under the eaves of an inn, she was taken in by an old cook and worked as a helper for six months. After leaving to investigate the grudge, she returned to find the cook had already passed away, leaving only a pair of cloth shoes for her; These shoes followed her on her journey to Huazhou.
Five choices for intermediate endings
"Cat Killing" occurs at night when Mansui is attacked with a knife and chooses to retreat quickly; "Soldier killing" comes from immediately attacking the soldiers, being outnumbered. "Slaughter" causes Ryo to be killed for believing in tongues, "Killing" means Ryo is killed while trying to escape the rebels; "Retribution" begins with a branch where the child is sold at an inn for a good price and then becomes part of the dark carriage.
