The prison cell in volume one
High school student Noboru Morisaki reunites with Kana Aoki, whom he had been dating a year and a half earlier, but both are kidnapped at the same time. Kaede Asakawa and Miki Sasaki told them that this was the forty-ninth floor of an abandoned building, with no exit to the lower floor. The game rules that had previously been circulated via chain mail became orders that had to be obeyed in this room.
Identity and designation
Participants are secretly divided into citizens and serial killers, and are designated through wrist devices. Citizens try to find enemies, while serial killers try to reduce the number of citizens; Police officers and detectives, who are also citizens, also possess special abilities. Breaking the rules can result in execution by the organizers, and when the outcome is decided, the survivors of the losing side cannot be rescued. Therefore, hiding your identity, exchanging information, and trusting anyone directly affects survival.
Sankan's perspective
The first volume, subtitled "With You and This Endless Darkness," was released on October 6, 2011. The three volumes feature different protagonists observing events, and when reading, one must distinguish between the information the characters have at the time and the rules of the entire game; The release dates and narrators of subsequent volumes cannot be recorded together under the first volume's name.
Three pairs of characters and three volumes at the beginning
In the first volume, Morisaki Noboru reunites with his lover Kana Aoki from a year and a half ago due to a kidnapping. Volume 2 opens with Kaede Asakawa and Miki Sasaki as the opening duo, with Miki deeply trusting Kaede's judgment. In volume three, Keisuke, with a strong sense of justice, protects his classmate Kasumi, while Kasumi, scarred by past murders, relies on Keisuke.
A closed venue for fourteen people
Participants are trapped on the 49th floor of the WR building, wearing wristbands and forced to participate in the Serial Killer Game. Among the fourteen people, three were hitmen, and among the remaining citizens were police officers and detectives. Everyone only knows their own identity; if the number of citizens drops to or below the number of assassins, defeat is achieved.
Nomination, investigation, and tie
After one hour of free time in each round, there are eight minutes of picks. Officers designated by the officer are protected for the current turn, and detectives can verify the faction of the person they have already named. The highest tie among citizens means all tied votes will die; The killer's draw is handled according to rotation priority. Direct violence, failure to name names after the deadline, and other behaviors result in a loss for the judge.
Explore and use keywords
The operation is divided into four stages: import, move, keyword session, and voting. Explore floors and character conversations to obtain keywords; ask other characters about these words to expand conversations and information, then participate in voting based on them.
Distributed in separate volumes
The three PSP volumes were released on October 6, December 8, 2011, and February 9, 2012, respectively, published by BOOST ON, and all were single-player and CERO D.
Other participants
Yoshio Nishino is a middle-aged member of parliament who values his own safety and demands protection from others; Akaharu Hayakura is an active nurse with a gentle attitude and will clearly offer opinions at critical moments. The two are voiced by Hitoshi Kamibeppu and Yuko Goto, respectively.
Gemini and different ways of handling things
Tsumuji Kashiwagi distrusts other participants, wholeheartedly protecting his twin sister Haruka; The younger sister relies on her older brother, and both are voiced by Yasu Tomoe Yutami. Police officer Kaoru Okoki hopes to protect everyone, while university student Hideaki Kashizawa keeps proposing ways to reduce casualties; Death row inmate Jack actively participates in the game, and Yuyu Koenji's innocent words and actions sometimes cause disputes.
