A common theme across multiple stories
The work is set against the backdrop of hospice wards and the few people left alive. Different chapters depict how characters face farewells, travel, and those around them, discussing how to live within limited time through their own experiences. It is a collection composed of multiple stories, rather than just switching the earliest story to another platform.
Included in the source
The developer Regista's listed original titles include "narcissu," "narcissu SIDE 2nd," and "narcissu 3rd -Die Dritte Welt-." The official promotion introduces the structure of three chapters plus four spin-offs, and specifically lists the final chapter newly added for the PSP version.
Changes to the handheld version
The port added a large number of event CGs, adjusted game visuals, and included opening and ending songs performed by eufonius. Yuko Goto, Mamiko Noto, Mai Goto, and others participated in the dubbing, with characters and voices organized separately for different chapters.
Distribution and development division
The official release date was June 24, 2010, with Kadokawa Shoten and HOBIBOX as the publishing brands. Regista was responsible for directing, programming, and script implementation. Early promotions listed a May 27 pre-order, but that date was later changed and could not be used as the official release date.
Personal profiles organized by chapter
Chapter One features 22-year-old Setsumi and Ato Yu leaving the seventh floor to see the daffodils on Awaji Island; The second chapter describes the ten things 23-year-old Himeko and Mika Setsu wanted to do before dying. Chihiro and Akishima Yuka were her sister and close friend, respectively. Her official PSP name is Akishima Yuka, pronounced Akishima Yuka.
The siblings and lovers in the final chapter
The final chapter returns to Chapter Two, more than twenty years ago. At 14, Hiroshi Makie meets Yoko Kusaka, who is also repeating a year, and they later become lovers; His younger sister Hiromi is one year younger than Hiroshi. Hiroshi and Yoko help out at the elderly family's home, establishing daily rules through exchanging diaries, and Yoshi's wishes as doctors are handed over to Hiroshi.
Unlock, chronology, and original game modes
After completing each chapter, the rest of the story gradually unlocks. After finishing the epilogue, you can arrange the menu in chronological order and activate Classic mode to read parts of the original PC content. The simultaneous review recorded 99 archived and retrospective voice replays, noting that only the spin-off "The Bride of the Bleach" was optional.
Handheld reading: voice and keys
Audio text can be displayed by speech length; The page-turn button can be changed to an arrow key, allowing players to read separately with either their left or right hand.
Handheld reading: Quick scene saving
When entering new scenes, the game automatically saves quickly for short-distance replays. Quick saves are separate from regular saves and only remain until power is cut or reset.
