Bubble Winterscape: A peaceful apocalypse

"Winterscape in the Bubble: Peaceful Apocalypse" is an additional story to "Winterscape in the Bubble," set in the autumn of 1988 and centered around the meeting between Liang Heping and Emi Sakurai. Satoshi Kataoka was responsible for the story and script, while Kuro served as planner, director, and producer.

Autumn of 1988

At 25, Liang Heping was involved in raising land prices and power struggles, and was accustomed to threatening or even using violence when things arose. Eight-year-old Emi is not afraid of him; after meeting by chance, she keeps getting closer to this taciturn adult. Heping gradually let down his guard, and this time together touched his long-closed life.

The origin of Liang Heping

Heping was born in China. His father is Japanese and his mother is Chinese. He grew up in Japan from a young age and does not speak Chinese. Higuchi was the deputy leader of the organization he had known since childhood, both using peace to get things done and showing concern for him.

Sanae and Jiang Xiaomo

Sanae Shindo, 24, also came to Japan from a young age. She operates between Japanese and Chinese gangs, approaching peace with other motives. Jiang Xiaomo runs real estate and nightclubs, making him one of Pingping's employers; His experiences connect the additional story with the main characters.

Emi and her sister

Emi follows her sister to Tokyo, cheerful and unshy. She still couldn't understand the complex situations adults faced, yet she could directly express her thoughts. The additional story uses her childhood identity and is set in a different stage compared to "Poems at the End of the Century," set in 1999.

Production and dubbing

Character design and concept art were handled by Werkbau, music by bermei.inazawa; 2B and Gu Luo participated in the performance script, and r514783 assisted with the original design. Liang Heping, Sanae, Higuchi, and Jiang Xiaomo are voiced by Satoshi Hino, Liu Jingluo, Norio Wakamoto, and Li Jin, respectively; Emi and Kanna are voiced by Kaori Nazuka and Hiroko Taguchi, respectively.

Entering the additional story

The Steam version was released on March 11, 2021, and requires the main story of Winterscape of Bubbles. After finishing the main game, enter Sidestory from the Extra button on the title screen, then use the arrow on the right to select "Peaceful Apocalypse."

Smuggling transport and Sanae's mission

Liang Ping used chocolate as a symbol of identification to transport illegal immigrants by sea on behalf of the triads; Those without tokens will be driven off the ship. During one work, Sanae Shindo boarded a ship from the sea and was then assigned to Heihei's side, assisting with work and supervising the situation. She speaks both Chinese and Japanese, helping peace convey directions to stowaways, and her approach to the underworld is also motivated by avenging her father.

Leftover chocolate

The chocolate Emi initially received was a keepsake left over from the peaceful transport work. Later, Peace refused to give her this deadly item again, leaving chocolate to help a father and son without a token of gratitude. He also violated the ban on carrying drugs and let a woman go. These concrete acts of saving lives gradually separated him from his previous way of working.

The past of Higuchi and the Liang mother and son

In childhood, Heping relied on his sickly mother. At first, Higuchi approached them with the intention of using the mother and son, but later brought cake to celebrate Christmas, attended the school open day, and advised Hehei to continue studying. Higuchi confesses to him the original intention behind using him, and his interests with the yakuza coexist in their relationship.

The breakup in Chapter 11

The transport work handed over a girl with a backpack full of "medicine" to Heping. The organization's orders require him to deal with her, and Peacepeace ultimately chooses to save her, thus completely breaking ties with the Japanese yakuza. Sanae also sees her own past in the girl and wavers in her revenge goal because Peace is not the ruthless person she imagined.
