From record labels to agehasprings
Kenji Tamai joined the production department of EPIC Records Japan in 1999 as a producer, and left in 2004 to establish agehasprings.
Before Aimer's mainstream debut in 2011, he was already responsible for music production and management.
In 2014, produced a single related to Hollow
In 2014, the first three tracks of the single were produced and arranged by Yujing, and the second track, 'holLow wORlD,' was also composed. The third track, "Open The Doors," was the ending theme for Vita at the time.
Shifting from artist activities to production
Yujing recalls that the response to music events and the experience of captivating audiences at performances gradually made him find music interesting. After meeting Kenji Kizaki, he began to aspire to work as a producer; After the band disbanded in 1993, he deliberately entrusted his solo albums to others for production, hoping to experience firsthand how producers work.
Studying songs at the club
Around age 20, Tamai worked in a club, experiencing different music every day, including dance classics she had rarely heard before. He researched why songs are popular and analyzed the reasons why choruses still stand out in looping chords, such as the way harmonies are organized.
Relearn from AD
After joining EPIC, Tamai chose to start as an AD, hoping to relearn production work. He recalled that this experience greatly helped him later develop specific production plans.
Choosing the Animation and Real Band Members
At the end of 2019, Tamai was invited by Toei Animation's producer Hirayama to participate in the collaboration project between the anime and real bands for 'Girls' Band Cry.' When selecting actors, the team considered performance, dubbing skills, and whether they fit the character and the songs already in production; The search for members took more than a year and a half.
Guitar selection without distorted timbre
In the final selection for guitarists, Tamai asked candidates not to play with distorted tones to judge their accuracy, and ultimately chose Yuuri.
Conceptualize songs from the character's perspective
When conceiving music for Togenashi Toge Ali, Tamai started by considering what songs Momoka Kawaraki might write, and envisioned the process of engaging with bands, Vocaloid, and other music, which then determined the direction of the sound and melody. This is his manufacturing hypothesis.
