New conflicts after the war
After the turmoil in "Gate of the Absolute Realm" ended, NEUE entered a period of recovery and institutional adjustment. Kazuya and the others return to live on the ship, but gradually face the Arms Alliance, a nation that does not belong to the Seldar system. The latter forms the core of this conflict over the positions of Seldar and EDEN.
Teams and new members
Kazuya Shiranami officially took command of the Rune Angel Squad due to his acting captain in the previous work. The original members include Apricot from EDEN, Anis the original treasure hunter, Nano Nano made of nanomachines, Kahlua/Tequila with a split personality, and Lily from the Seldar Knights.
This work introduces Roselle, piloting the prototype Emblem Machine Holy Blood, as well as the new operator Tapio of Luxior. The enemy princess Natsume believes she is fighting a battle for justice; Calvado and Benedictine respectively ruled Caljell and Pike, while Junièvre was the chief regent of Hatchet and the guardian of the jujubes.
Adventure and tactical system
Battles are available in three difficulty levels: Normal, Hard, and Mania. The ultimate skill now has a ripple effect on enemy ships near the target. Advance Mode uses a menu similar to the original series, allowing users to monitor enemy status and issue commands while observing the unit.
The adventure section now features avatars that change with the dialogue. The event illustration was drawn by Kanan, with the character illustration under their chief editorial commission; Yoshi Mizuno served as chief editor and producer, Sumire Nanohana was in charge of script coordination, and Koji Tsuchida served as chief director.
Release depends on the previous work
This article uses two DVDs; After reading the CD of the previous game, "Gate of the Absolute Domain," you can also play another IF story. The PS2 was first released on October 18, 2007, and the Broccoli Best Quality reprint was released on December 11, 2008. The 2009 trilogy set included this reissue.
Theme songs and related publications
The two opening tracks are Maho Tomita's "Wing of Destiny Angel Harp arr." and Ryoko Shintani's "Eternal Love 2007." Along with twelve character chapter ending songs and the overall ending theme "Salvage" performed by JAM Project, this work uses fifteen songs.
The radio drama and concert DVD set released on August 24, 2007, includes seven short plays, including stories connecting the previous and two works; The strategy guide released on November 21 of the same year also compiled adventure, battles, and the previous Extra Route.
2007 original event illustration and avatar creation
The initial event drawings differed from expectations, and Kanan later requested to personally draw all the scenes over the phone; The avatar window switches between expressions using portrait materials, replacing the previous method of using different images.
Difficulty and gameplay style
Koji Tsuchida recalled that player feedback from previous games and Kitani's suggestions led to the three-level difficulty setting. Advance Mode responds to players who want to restore the original controls by allowing friend or foe status viewing and command controls in Camera Mode to coexist; Mizuno explained that this expansion was completed independently by the development team and that the project team did not proactively request it.
Combat performance and visual workload
The development team has remastered all ultimate moves and added extra effects. Tsuchida also explained at the press conference that Kanan had drawn over 120 event illustrations including their differences.
New characters in romantic relationships and special scripts
Sumire Nanoka starts with a romantic relationship formed in the previous work, introducing how the addition of Natsume and Rosel brings competition and upheaval; Natsume's concept originally came from the game and later appeared in the anime. She introduced the bonus script that relied on the previous game's disc as a side story behind the serious story, hoping those familiar with the earlier work will smile knowingly.
Lens subject and vertical switching
At the press conference, Koji Tsuchida explained that the blue mark to the left of the character icon indicates the current camera subject, and the controller can switch between the characters to be observed. Status viewing and command operations in the lens mode remain when switching.
From assistance to occupation
At a pre-release press conference, Ryo Mizuno explained that the Arms Alliance initially assisted the stronger Seldar Alliance, but then suddenly launched a war and quickly occupied the Union's major planets.
