The opening after the prequel plan changes
"Blue Oni: Origin Edition" was originally planned to be directly adapted from the 2013 novel, but before serialization began, it was changed to an original prequel. The launch date for the anniversary project could not be delayed, so Kenji Kuroda spent about ten days organizing the entire story and writing the first chapter. He and the editors confirmed Naoki as the protagonist and broke the habit of drafting the conclusion outline first, completing the opening with only the final scene.
The back-and-forth between scripts and manga storyboards
In a 2022 public retrospective, Kuroda noted that the storyboard drafts for the "Blue Demon: Genshi Arc" manga were created by Karin Suzuragi based on her own script. Suzuragi also provided many ideas to help him complete the two-year serialization without having completed the entire plot.
