Return to Maoshen Village

Tohru Sawai brings his sister Natsuha back to Shigenobu Kanmura in the Kochi mountains, where his sister seems to have forgotten their hometown. Villages isolated from the city still maintain the old rhythm of life: cleaning houses, playing in the mountains, working in the fields, and preparing for summer festivals. Tohru reunites with a childhood friend and a yokai, and once-dormant memories resurface through everyday details. The traditional dance rituals in the festival bring back the old stories of humans and monsters, and also cause Natsuha to suddenly show signs of strangeness, forcing Tooru to investigate the cause of illness and local legends.

Tohru, Natsuha, and their village companions

Tohru is the protagonist returning home, and also serves as the perspective for observing the story; Natsuha is lively and curious, facing the anomalies in their hometown together with her brother. Arishima Arisu, a childhood friend living next door, has feelings for Tohru, while the guardian yokai Sumi has long looked after the Sawai family. Umbrella demons, flying car corners, and other monsters also appear in villagers' lives. The work involves yokai in the village's social interactions, festivals, and history.

Folklore fantasy and investigation

Players follow Tou's life and investigations through an ADV reading style, gradually understanding Mao Shen's traditional beliefs and visions through character relationships and storyline branches. Village daily life, folk festivals, and supernatural mysteries intertwine layer by layer, with the story focusing on memories of returning home, family cooperation, and the coexistence of humans and monsters in local society. Natsuha's sudden physical abnormality prompts Tohru to search for the cause of the illness and brings the village legend into the investigation.

Original work, sequels, and ports

Lose released the PC-based work 'Monobeno' in 2012. The subsequent 'Monobeno -happy end-' expands the story; The PS Vita version of "Monobeno -pure smile-" adds new chapters and visual content created by the original team. The mobile version of the Menge APP has been adjusted for mobile versions, with chapters and interface specifications belonging to this version.

Protector of the homeland

Sumi came to the Sawai family when Tooru was born, accompanied by the large Umbrella Demon Speeding Horn; She couldn't grow up like a human and always protected Tohru. Ushioni and Okoya care for Natsuha, and the siblings together form a sibling living environment in the village.

Abnormalities after returning home

Six years after Tohru left for further education, he returned with Natsuha to the remote Moshin Village in Kochi. Natsuha's childhood memories of danger at the waterfall Ootome Kama, along with her fall at the dance festival after returning home, form the key events of the opening stage.

Mobile version

The all-age mobile version of the moe APP clearly lacks voice control; The production credits are cura, with scripts by Hyoko and Machiko Eino.
