The beginning of village life

Hakuoro, who had lost his memory and wore a mask, was rescued by Elulu and recuperated in the village. He gradually became involved in the villagers' lives and helped improve farming. The harvest does not immediately bring stability; conflicts caused by lordly conscription shift the story from village daily life to resistance and war.

Narrative and combat

The dialogue section presents the relationships between villagers and companions, while the combat section handles conflicts through character deployment, movement, and attacks. By alternating these two processes, characters become not only in daily interactions but also as members of the player's commands in combat.

Changes to the portable version

The PSP version adds a high-difficulty mode for those familiar with the battle rules. You can choose between 4:3 or 16:9 for display; the latter uses vertical scrolling for the image, and the difference between the two settings goes beyond simply widening the image.

Production and distribution

The producer is Naoya Shimokawa, the director is Tsutomu Washimi, the script is written by Munemitsu Suga, and the original artwork is by Kanro Tree. The original PSP version was released on May 28, 2009, the budget AQUAPRICE version on October 27, 2011, and the download version on June 26, 2014.

Relationship with other versions

This game is the handheld version of the first part of the trilogy; Later, "Lullaby to the Dead" presented this story in a remake format. "Mask of Hypocrisy" shifts to Huck and Yamato, with both the protagonist and the background country different from the first film.
