An expanded version with new characters, two routes, and an epilogue of the original route.
Content and distribution
The 2012 expanded version added Mayuki Wakamoto, and opened the routes for Yasuko Yamanouchi and Ami Asada; After the happy endings of Hatsumi Hara, Nagisa and Sayuri, an epilogue was added, along with incident CGs and a remade theme song.
Planning and original concepts prepared in advance
Miyaza recalled that before and after the original work's release, they had already worked with Madoka En to develop the expansion concept. Even if the next project hasn't been officially decided, they are ready to submit the plan to the company immediately once approved. Before the end of the original game's release year, he proposed additional content and PC production timelines to the producer; Cyberfront then hoped to release a PSP version, which led the developers to finalize the PC and PSP versions for RE:Therapy in 2012.
According to Miyaza's review, Mayuki's patient role was initially planned for Naruse, but was postponed due to scale, script balance, and development deadlines. At the time, Madoka also wanted to write the endings for the two supporting female leads, but the producers postponed it; Once RE:Therapy is confirmed for development, these original ideas will be expanded.
Mayuki's voice selection and recording preparation
Miyaza recalls: The actor for the new character Mayuki in 'RE:Therapy' was confirmed through a voice sample from Ayane Sakura. Before the official recording, Sakura carefully read the script, and the voice she prepared matched the producers' vision of Mayuki.
