A boy left behind on Wataru Toki Island

Nishi Mingguang lost his parents at a young age, and in the spring of his first year of high school, his aunt asked him to move to his grandfather's house. He took a boat alone to Wataru Tokishima, a remote island in Okinawa, only to find that his grandfather had already emigrated overseas, his aunt had lost contact, and the school he transferred to was not even registered on his student record. With nowhere to go, Hikari wanders through the sugarcane fields and meets a girl named Riruu wearing unusual clothing. Neither of them is good at living by convention, so they help each other and search for a place to settle on the island.

Liluu and the people on the island

Riruu is an unidentified girl living in a sugarcane field hut. She usually hunts vipers in the mountains and doesn't understand Japanese social customs well. On the island, there are also residents like Akira Akatsumi and Tsumugi Higa, each with their own worries in daily life; The traditions of blessing women and local beliefs in the village also influence their choices. After Hikaru and Liluu join forces, they gradually move from isolation into community life; The mutual support and cultural differences among characters form the foundation of the work's coexistence of warmth and conflict.

An all-ages novel adventure

This game is a novel-style adventure that progresses through tap-based text and has no branching options. Players follow Hikari and Riru's experiences living together on the island, where the island's climate, sugarcane fields, and local beliefs also influence their choices. The story focuses on how the two build trust, search for a destination, and gradually reveal Riluu's purpose for coming to the island.

KEMCO's official page lists the home console version as IARC 12+ and notes that it includes additional novel e-book content from the Append booklet.

Life and people on the island

At 16, Nishimori Hikaru came from Tokyo to Wataru Toki Island. Due to missing relatives, she lives with Riruu in a sugarcane field. Liluu catches snakes on the island, nationality unknown; Fifteen-year-old Chi Zhaiming was born into a Zhu family and resisted taking over the position. Tsumugi Higa is a 24-year-old insurance salesperson facing a tough job; Hiriko Kunchaden dreams of running a resort hotel, while Joe Kaneshiro is the leader of a delinquent group near Kusejima.

Home consoles and additional novels

The home console port was released on April 28, 2023, with a Switch 2 version launching on August 6, 2026. The ported version includes novels from Append in e-book form. Steam's Append is a collection of Japanese short stories and sketches of six supporting characters, depicting the year between the main story and the ending, distinct from the main game.

Akari Arc: Remote Island and Voice Actor Audition

Akira planned to leave the island for his dream of becoming a voice actor, and once hid the plan from his childhood friend Kiriko. Kiriko sees through her plans, arranges for Kaneshiro to help, and prepares to take on the task alone when Akira leaves her duties. Ming and Guang went to Tokyo for auditions; She still remembers the two of them getting lost when they watched fireflies and holding hands to return home, but Hikaru has already forgotten them. The closeness and farewells before and after the audition accompanied her as she continued to choose her own future.

Insurance Salesperson Edition: Grandmother's Notebook and Soul Meeting

Tsumugi uses the journal left by her grandmother as a guideline for an ideal adult and repeatedly searches for work. She feels guilty for being scammed out of money given by her grandmother in Naha and for not being able to make it to her grandmother's death. Liruu uses magic to make her meet her grandmother's spirit, allowing Tsumugi to hear her grandmother's response directly and begin to choose her own life. The story later reveals that she was originally a knight who came to the island from another world ten years ago, and after losing her memory, she lived on the island.

Riluu Arc: Illness and Translation Magic

Riru was once sold as a slave and became a witch to return to her family. After living with Hikaru, she gradually lost the ability to move in sunlight, then lost the ability to walk and magic, leaving the burden of supporting the household on Hikaru. The translation magic failed, preventing the two from continuing a direct conversation; Hikaru had promised not to hand her over to the Osato family, but ultimately made this choice to prolong her life.

The Osato family and the final rescue

Shinji Osato surrounds Hikaru and Riruu, forcing them to rely solely on the Osato family, while opposing manipulating decisions based on their guilt. Kaneshiro alone asked Hikaru to meet Riruu, but after being beaten, he still hid the truth from Hikari. Hikaru ultimately uses a ritual to contact the gradually disappearing Rilu, preventing her from becoming an ikigami; At the end, the two live together, and after clearing the game, the title screen shows them wearing wedding rings.

Extra: Ikigami and Family

Extra: Yiming's research organizes the history of Wataru Shijima: The saint from another world once sealed Kurotezuri, becoming the first Ikigami, and the Osato family manages the subsequent arrivals from another world. The current Ikigami had a child with Hikaru's grandfather, making her Hikaru's grandmother; Her grandfather had long searched for a way to save her. Tsumugi came to the island ten years ago but did not become an Ikigami, while Riruu faces the situation of taking over and being sealed in the main story.
