"Ruriruran Ginza Roman" is a song for the game "New Sakura Wars."
Conceptualizing and recording with a dual side of day and night
The producers asked Kohei Tanaka to portray two sides of Itsuki Saijo in the same song: by day, he is a passionate supporter of the Flower Team; at night, he works as a member of the Moon Troupe in intelligence activities.
Tanaka keeps the prelude bright and lively from the first section to the second section, while the second section shifts to a dangerous spy mission. Both sections use the same melody, contrasting by the major and minor keys.
This structure requires the melody to naturally hold both major and minor keys. Tanaka collaborated with lyricist Seiko Fujibayashi and arranger Fuminori Iwasaki to complete this day-night transition.
Before recording, Tanaka first explained the singing technique and asked Mayu Yoshioka to practice. After several auditions, production decided to further widen the gap between the two singing styles and enhance the sense of exaggeration, ultimately recording a vocal style that highlights the character's dual sides.
