Collaboration of new arrangements in 2023
The new arrangement for 2023 was supervised by Qiaozhu at the invitation of Kitagawa, with repeated discussions between the two sides for about one to two months.
Original work sound data collaboration
When Qiaozhou recalled the original production, Kitagawa helped adjust Sugimori Masakazu's music data so it could be played on the NDS; This experience also helped him become familiar with the composition of the original sound.
Soundtrack production for Layton and The Great Twist
During the production of "Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney," Kitagawa received Tomohito Nishiura's music data and adjusted the instrumental tones to match the sounds of the adventure and the courtroom scenes. The two sides first discussed the direction of orchestral and acoustic instruments, then used jointly used music software to unify the sound sources.
After consulting with Qiao Zhou, he paired orchestral and woodwind sounds with the medieval magical world, and used the Tsimbarom and marimba to add variety in scenes or story transitions.
About ten arrangements of the London Court's music were selected by Qiaozhou from the original generation. The Witch Judge wrote a new song, and Kitagawa re-examined the original chords and vocal style, developing themes such as the step, objections, and interrogation.
The early version of 'The Great Witch's Judgment: Court' was rejected for being too lighthearted, and about two years later, it was resubmitted but still not approved. Kitagawa further changed the arrangement to suit the climax scene, which was eventually approved.
When producing the 2015 "Ace Attorney," Kitagawa started from the keywords confirmed with Qiaozhou, first writing "Common Reasoning," gradually establishing rules for instrument selection; Solo sounds like violin and accordion are used to close the distance and control the scale.
"Joint Reasoning" and Ryunosuke's theme each experimented with nearly twenty proposals, playing a key role in determining the early musical direction. He also visited the Liujia Music Box Museum to study the old music box in the story, observing the automatic performance devices from back then.
The first draft of 'Pursuit: The Great Reversal Time' was shelved for about half a year. Once the worldview and other music were formed, Kitagawa spent about another month completing the piece, deciding the degree of pursuit based on the musical intensity of the entire work.
The choice of adapting the entire piece
Kitagawa explained that when facing the music for the 2023 remake of "Ghost Scheme," his choice was to leave it completely unchanged or to adapt all 37 tracks. This trade-off was made to maintain a unified worldview between the original soundtrack and the game.
