Family meeting on Rokken Island

Relatives of the Ushiromiya family gathered on the isolated island of Rokken Island to discuss the inheritance and succession of the head Kinzo. The typhoon made it difficult for people on the island to leave, pushing old family grievances, wealth, and relationships to the surface. The prologue begins with a family meeting in 1986 and builds a closed-off environment mystery through a series of murders on the island.

The second part, "Scattered"

"Scatter" is the latter half of the original 07th Expansion series, continuing the cases and reasoning issues raised in the first four "Question Sections." The official PS3 product page also lists it as the latter half of the main story, with the story switching between different perspectives such as detective and witch.

Positions of the first and second parts

"Scatter" is the sequel to the original "When the Sea Cat Cries," including the expansion arc Episodes 5 to 8; the first parts, EP1 to EP4, are not included in the main "Scatter" series. The release notes for 07th Expansion clearly distinguish between the two PC titles, which also explains the difference between this title and the console version, which combines the two parts.

Stage and relationships

The story continues to revolve around a series of murders involving Rokkenjima and the Ushiromiya family, with Sento and Beatrice continuing to confront cases through deduction and fantasy. The closed environment, family relationships, and legacy mysteries established in the first part serve as the backdrop for reading the second part; The official explanation states that the latter part will provide clues and important information about previous events, while still leaving readers room for deduction.

Reading Form

The original works organize different case chessboards and interpretive perspectives through consecutive chapters, allowing readers to seek the truth on their own. Episode 8 sets the choice between "magic tricks" and "magic," leading to different endings. Enju's final actions and future experiences change depending on the choices.

Editions and Distribution

The original PC doujin was released on a Windows DVD-ROM, with Episode 8 launching on December 31, 2010. Later, the PS3 game "San ~ Nocturne of Reality and Fantasy~" adapted the latter part into a fully voiced console game.

EP5: Natsuhi's Accusations and the Final Judgment (PC Chapter Spoilers)

Summer Fei is threatened by a call from someone claiming to be connected to events from nineteen years ago, and is accused by Erika of being the culprit. At the Last Judgment, Warrior offers another explanation, opposing Erika and Delanore; At the end of the chapter, he secures the position of game host.

The Knox Rule in Trial

Delanore uses the Knox Ten Rings to restrain reasoning, including that the culprit must be from an early storyteller, that supernatural powers cannot be used as detective tools, and that cases cannot be solved with clues that have not yet been revealed. The rules became the basis for both sides to explain and refute EP5 matches.

EP7: Li Yu's World and Willard (PC Chapter Spoilers)

In the alternate world where Natsuhi accepted the baby, Riyu became the heir to the Ushiromiya family and sought out the past with Willard. After the main text ends, the Tea Party puts Liyu in danger again, and Willard arrives to protect her; This is the branch of the world unfolding.

EP8: Magic and Magic (PC mutually exclusive branch, spoilers)

EP8 introduces two choices: "magic tricks" and "magic." The Handcraft branch begins in 1998 on a ship heading to Rokkenjima, where Enju kills Amakusa and Erika appears beside her as the one uncovering the truth. The magical branch lets Enju end his adventure, hand over the group to Kokonoki, change his name to writer, and be driven south by Amakusa to start a new life.

EP8: Reunion Between the Outlying Island and the Future (PC Spoiler at the End)

The final part describes Senjin and Beator leaving Rokken Island after the explosion in a jet ski, and later embracing each other in the sea. In the future segment where the magic branch expands, Enju meets Ikiko and Juhachi under the name Kotobuki Yukari; Shiba claimed to have the memories of the warriors, but couldn't see them as his own experiences. Ikuko previously proposed to make Eha's diary public, but ultimately did not reveal it at the meeting.

The range of the anthology of the author's pieces

ZTS's "Loose Musicbox Red" covers EP5–8, featuring ten in-game tracks and two unused tracks. "Resurrected Replayer," "Liberated Liberator," "The Executioner," "Last EndConductor," and others were composed and arranged by ZTS; "lastend" and "rotate" are clearly unused tracks in the composer's track list. dai's digital compilation of "Kiri no Pitosu" is selected from the collection of songs of the same name at the end of EP5–6, with a different range than the red disc.

Episode 5 theme and cross-chapter single

Ayumu's single "Witch of the Occultics" was released on November 26, 2009, with the main track corresponding to the original PC Episode 5. The second track includes Episode 1's ending theme, 'Bring The Fate,' on CD for the first time; The third track features Miracles Mix, handled by Hiroki Doi, and the fourth track features the theme song off vocals.

Episode 8's white dream theme

"Shirayume no Cocoon ~Ricordando il passato~" is the theme written by Akiko Shikata specifically for the original PC Episode 8, and it is included on the fifth track of the five-track record of the same name released on June 8, 2011. The product announcement published in the media listed the lyrics, composition, and arrangement of this song as Akiko Shikata; The rest of the record is organized around the concept of forests.

Original PC Expansion Arc: The decision presented at the end

Ryukishi 07 reviewed in 2011 that the events on the island were initially determined, but the ending showed the exact stage that was still being adjusted. Between the fifth and seventh pieces, he considered two ways to present them, and ultimately decided to use one when writing the eighth.
