Commentary recording, editing, and trigger arrangement
Victor recalls that after joining Grim Fandango Remastered in 2014, he helped arrange about four hours of developer commentary recording for each group, recording interesting moments in each group. After listening to about sixteen hours of footage, I marked the clips with Audacity, named the export file with text notes, and considered the length limit that commentary could only be played in the trigger room.
Victor selected where to view objects or prompts after entering a room for Grim Fandango Remastered, wrote design documents, and handed them over to programmers to connect triggers and audio. When arranging content, he balances the current room's topic with common anecdotes, presenting different participants and roles.
Commentary transcription and subtitle timing
Victor recalled that Mark Cooke persuaded him to add subtitles to the commentary for Grim Fandango Remastered. He used transcription apps to transcribe each paragraph for months, finally filling in the start and end information for each audio clip to control the appearance and disappearance of subtitles.
Module collaboration and main visual modifications
Victor also recalled two production adjustments for "Grim Fandango Remastered": the team hired the ResidualVM mouse mod author to participate in development; Peter Chan, to meet the 2015 packaging requirements, changed the cigar Hector uses as a toothpick in the new main visual.
