Tokyo in 2008

The secret research institution Guhen possesses a powerful political background and conducts research unconstrained by ordinary rules. Researcher Soji Tsunagawa specializes in genetic engineering and neurosurgery, and is developing the artificial life form "Extra"; The three girls—Emma, Sandy, and Touhua—were created by this project, and their names are related to an additional pair of genetic structures.

Changes in the institute

After an unknown military robot breaks into the research institute, the peaceful life is shattered. The value of the Extra as a weapon has attracted military attention, and public security officer Arayama Birdman and another developer, Allen Takamiya, each have their own views. The purpose of the ancient scars, the past of the related characters, and the names behind the plan—"Origin" and "Babel"—gradually become subjects of investigation in the story.

FFD and character selection

Floating Frame Director places text, bubbles, images, and animations into frames that can move, scale, and rotate, creating layout changes and music to present rhythm. The game also features a Stray Sheep mechanic: some choices are made by the characters themselves, allowing players to see the character's judgment process, so not all branching on the screen requires player operation.

Release version

The limited edition was released on July 5, 2002, and the regular edition was released on October 25 of the same year. The Standard Edition, released on December 22, 2006, switched to DVD format; The official statement clearly states that this version does not add new story or images. The limited edition once included character models made by Kaiyodo, and both the early limited and standard editions included original soundtracks.

Three artificial lifeforms

Emma is free-spirited, enjoys exquisite clothes and interesting things, but suffers from congenital heart disease and arrhythmia. Touhua is calm and thoughtful, often taking on the role of the older sister among the three, with relatively reserved emotional expression. Sand friends are cheerful and emotionally rich; Due to extensive brain modifications, sensory instability leads to childish speech. The three individually differ in physical condition and personality, making the Extra Project more than just a research name.

The relationship between the inside and outside of the ancient scars

Information Minister Satomi Shinato once dated Tsunagawa but now keeps his distance; Eren Takamiya competes with him in Extra Research and hopes to create artificial gods. The organization's founder, Graham Hazel, has a profound influence. The unnumbered Public Security agent Arashiyama Birdman made no records a condition for his actions, while Major Spad from the weapons development department tried to use Koshen technology.

PC 'Baijie Caohua': Gameplay and Options

Some choices in the first week will not appear. After the second playthrough, options related to the endings of Touka, Emma, and Sandu are unlocked, and you can see scenes of Pindou and the previous generation; Choices also change the stargazing partner Tsunagawa shares with and the person she talks with at the end.
