The summer vacation of the shrine boys
Sakaki Tsukumo injured his leg in a childhood accident and usually needs a cane. His father was both a clergyman and engaged in exorcism of monsters; At first, Ninety-Nine could hardly see any monsters and was skeptical about these things. After his father left, he took over the shrine's affairs during a month-long summer vacation, gradually getting to know the lives of the local people and monsters.
An encounter in the forest
His father once warned Tsukumo not to enter the forest at dusk. An experience chasing bloodstains and strange scents leads him to encounter the severely injured Inuhiko. After saving Inuhiko, Tsukumo lived together through possession, and he gained the ability to see yokai. Inuhiko was once connected to the Inugami family but was reluctant to talk about his past.
People living together
Iori Kamitsu is a shrine maiden living at a shrine, adopted from a young age. She has no blood relation to Tsukumo but cherishes her as a younger sister. Tsukumo's cousin, Urui Hyakuya, comes from a branch family shrine and is currently learning exorcism; She is close to Iori, but often clashes with Tsukumo. Ayaki comes seeking help due to fox spirit possession, and the situation cannot be resolved immediately, so she has to stay temporarily.
Monsters and visitors
Furong, attached to Ayaki, occasionally reveals her will, making conversations with others difficult. A young man who calls himself a liar often disrupts Tsukumo and Inuhiko with fake and fake remarks. Sango Mizushima, Midoriko Aoba, and Konayuki Tamase, who gather at nearby closed schools, also have their own hidden agendas; Tsukumo investigates ghost rumors and has since met with them repeatedly.
Production and performance
The original concept and script were written by Maon Nishikawa, with Natsu Kitajima participating in the script, and character design by Chisato Kita. The setting is a rural shrine and its surrounding areas that coexist with modern life: not all yokai actively harm people, but possession and disappearance still affect daily life. The official promotional video music was composed by Hiroto Saito, and the production was by KIZAWA Studio.
Games and radio dramas
The base game does not have character voice acting. The pre-order bonus also includes a newly rearranged prologue drama CD, with Tsukumo Sakaki starring as Kayu Irino, Inuhiko as Akio Otsuka, Iori as Noriko Shimoya, and Hyakuya as Kaori Shimizu. Other roles also feature special actors; This list belongs to radio dramas and cannot be used as in-game voice acting.
Issuance and revision
The disc and download versions were released simultaneously on November 20, 2009, with the same game content. The disc version uses a single DVD-ROM; The downloadable version used the then-internet authentication method. Official 1.02 fixed text and full-screen display issues, and stated that old archives can still be used; the downloadable version already includes some text fixes.
