The meeting of three generations of mother and daughter
In spring 2023, Misuzu, who lost her mother at a young age and now lives with her grandparents, celebrates her 16th birthday. The girl Yoko suddenly appeared, only 16 years old, but her mother was from 1996. Yoko is chosen as the priestess for the ceremony, inviting her daughter to accompany her; The journey extends to 2050, with Misuzu's future daughter, Tsumugi, joining the group. The three break free from their age gap and family positions, and begin to reconnect with each other as travel companions of the same age.
Travel companions and family experiences
Misuzu's growth was accompanied by her mother's absence, while Yoko was frail but bold and curious. Tsumugi from 2050 grew up under the care of her family, has a rebellious side, and is ready to participate in the ceremony. Guide Hiruko claims to be Yoko's unborn son and Misuzu's younger brother. This journey connects lost loved ones, families who have yet to arrive, and those who could never have met.
The kingdom of the four seasons and the changing of gods
The country of Tokose is divided into four countries: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. They have similar island shapes but occupy different spaces, traveling back and forth through underwater caves at the horizon's edge. "Tanetsumi" is the funeral required for the gods' succession: the shrine maiden must make the old gods accept death before the true winter that brings filth arrives. Thus, the journey gradually unfolds around seasons, generations, and farewells.
Single-line storytelling and production
The game does not choose branches but follows a narrative path toward the conclusion. Kazuki (STUDIO・HOMMAGE) was responsible for planning and scriptwriting, popman3580 and maniani handled character design, Yow handled direction and direction, and iMel handled programming. Moki Harada composed the music; The opening song "Night Passes" is performed by sola, and the ending "Song of the Night" is performed by Rita.
Distribution platforms and languages
The PC version was released on December 13, 2024, via Steam, DMM GAMES, and DLsite, supporting Japanese, English, and Chinese Simplified. The Switch, iOS, and Android versions will be released on May 1, 2025. The Switch version supports touchscreen operation; Mobile phones offer free introductions, and subsequent content can be unlocked and purchased to continue reading. On March 4, 2025, a 46-track digital soundtrack album was released.
A family spanning three generations
Yoko came from 1996 to 2023 to welcome 16-year-old Misuzu, and mother and daughter travel to 2050 to meet Tsumugi, who is the same age. Hiruko claims to be Yoko's unborn son and acts as the guide. The identities of mothers, daughters, and future granddaughters, as well as their peer travel companions, coexist and constantly challenge old impressions within the family.
The Four Seasons Kingdom and the Burial Rites of the Spirits
The Land of Tokoyo is made up of four separate countries: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. The kingdoms share the same shape and must cross through underwater caves. Yoko was chosen as a shrine maiden to ensure that the old leader of the immortal gods would accept death before true winter arrived, thus completing the generational transition.
Performance, character, and music production
Kazuki planned and wrote the story, while popman3580 and マニアニ handled character design, with the latter designing the deities based on the Four Seasons culture. Yow unified the visuals and performances, Moki Harada composed the soundtrack and two theme songs, and iMel developed the program. The story has no branches, and the four embark on a shared journey along the unique ending.
46 tracks of digital soundtrack
The original soundtrack, released on March 4, 2025, includes 41 soundtracks, two theme songs, and three theme song versions. Yoru wo Goru Yusola performed with lyrics by Kazuki and Shiki; Tanetsumi no Uta is performed by Rita, with lyrics by Kazuki, and both tracks arranged by Moki Harada.
The 2024 original character design process
popman3580 draws facial expressions differently based on character personality; The three generations maintain a sense of kinship among their facial features, and their uniforms reflect the characteristics of their era. Manyani uses character lists and sketches of height and body type arrangement to determine the direction of the deity's design.
Planning, scriptwriting, and storyboard production
During the development of "Song of Sowing," Kazuki accepted Shimada's suggestion before starting to write and changed the international walking journey to a train journey. Misuzu's personality was also revised through feedback from Yow and Shimada: first, she added speaking habits and adjusted the entire dialogue, then repeatedly discussed and reconciled the overly strong parts. Kazuki, Yow, and Shimada also repeatedly discussed and screened materials within limited budgets.
Kazuki created about 800 storyboard sketches for "The Song of Sowing," checking character positions, movements, and visual contrasts; Yow confirmed the scene and commissioned illustration based on the draft. He also suggested adding visual explanations to the intersection of characters that might be misunderstood through text alone, and to organize the performance based on what Misuzu saw and imagined.
Art of deities and human figures
Hiruko from "Song of Sowing" was designed in the direction of popman3580's Yigoi, while also considering coordination with Maniani's divine design. Maniani retains common elements in parts such as the shoulders of different races in Xia, while Otohime combines imagery of deep-sea fish and pure glass dolls; Popman also distinguishes Seiji's youth and father stage through lines and expressions.
Original dialogue recording
Minami Iinuma recorded lines for three different ages during the audition for Misuzu in "Song of Sowing." The official recording includes the 16-year-old, childhood, and adulthood parts in sequence, so the voices of 16-year-old and adult Misuzu speaking together are recorded separately; The character's image and unique language were gradually established through her communication with screenwriter Kazuki.
In the original dialogue of "Song of Sowing," Sayumi Watanabe distinguishes between youthful and adult tones for Yoko, and re-records the farewell scene in the prologue where emotions are too emotionally affected. Under Kazuki's guidance, Yukimi Hayase makes Tsumugi look more natural; Mutsumi Tamura adjusted the intensity of Hiruko's harsh scenes to distinguish them from simple angry expressions.
Addition of original music and seasonal programming
Harada wrote the Shikoku theme from spring to winter, later adding a rearranged strong beat soundtrack for the opening sequence, increasing the original set of forty BGM tracks to forty-one.
The State of Chun used the erhu; Xia chose Gamelan according to Shiyin's requirements; The Autumn Kingdom uses tin whistles; The Winter Country uses a dark, classical orchestral arrangement to distinguish the four regions.
