Silver-related production

Ume Aoki signed the illustration for the 2000 original manual in "Giniro."

Comic production and submission arrangements

In early interviews, Aoki Ume said she would first carefully define each panel in writing, then sketch the draft on the copy paper and trace the lines on the original paper. After scanning, she fills in the dot area in Photoshop, finally merges the gray layers, and submits the free software to convert them into dots.

When drawing color illustrations, Aoki Umeya also starts with paper drafts; If the draft is too rough, first scan and organize it, then print and outline. Coloring is timed: use SAI when there's more flexibility, and Photoshop when rushing to finish.

The "Sunshine Sketch" animation team invited Ume Aoki to actively share her opinions, and she also participated in the production discussions. The first issue had not yet adapted to this mode of participation, resulting in a reduction in the number of pages in the manga.

Early creation and drafting

In third year of junior high, Ume Aoki created a replica doujinshi of 'Samurai Spirits Zankuro Musouken.' Later, through a friend's introduction, she drew manual illustrations for a newly established PC game company and continued the four-panel comic for the website. In her second year of university, an editor saw her work in the Sora Publishing anthology featuring Ume Aoki and invited her to start serializing 'Hidamari Sketch' in the April 2004 issue of Manga Time Kirara Charat.

In the early days, when coloring a digital draft with a mouse, Aoki Ume would draw color boundaries for details like hair on the paper, then scan it into a selection area. When working on comic manuscripts, she also used an A4 scanner to read B4 drafts in two separate sessions; Later, to improve efficiency, equipment capable of processing B4 manuscripts at once was adopted.
