Lines and coloring in anniversary illustrations
When Matsuryu was illustrating the 15th anniversary illustration of Gundam Info, the mobile suit sketch initially included many details, but it deviated from the original Gundam's impression. He proactively simplified lines while maintaining a styling effect; Amuro's hair was colored differently from his usual style, making it closer to the animation feel.
Self-directed exercises in the art club
Matsuryu recalls that at fifteen, he wanted to pursue painting but had not yet received professional training. In the school's art club, no one taught him specific painting techniques; he mainly practiced using existing tools on his own.
