This is from the Mother Star

"From the Star, This Mother" is a yuri adventure game released by Nippon Ichi Software in 2021. Six girls begin their life on a cruise ship after losing part of their memories, and together search for food, shelter, and the reasons for the world's changes in the abandoned Ikebukuro.

Outside the cruise ship

The girls remember their names and travel together, but can't remember why they were on the cruise ship. The ship's broadcast announced an engine failure and told them to wait for rescue. After waiting with no results, after stepping out of the boat, they saw Ikebukuro covered with plants. The earthquake blocked the entrance back to the ship, making it an urgent task to find a place to live.

The lives of six people

Kanashin encourages her friends to try new things, and Reirai, who is skilled at cooking, helps everyone arrange their lives. Saori, who studies space engineering, provides mechanical and textbook knowledge, while young Hyakunenko constantly expresses his desire to improve his life. Natsuki, who loves role-playing, and Harumi, who studies astrology, each discover clues in their exploration through their own observations.

Maps and partner events

Players choose locations on the map and advance exploration through textual events, collecting food and materials for making beds and cookware. In daily life, the two-person event uses three fixed pairs: Kanashin and Reirai, Saori and Hyakunenko, and Natsuki and Harumi. Which group of peers you choose will affect the special scenes that appear in the endgame. Some locations will update after the main story progresses, so side dialogues at the same stage may not be saved for later reading.

Production and supplementary readings

The PS4 and Nintendo Switch versions were released on October 28, 2021. Gen Suganuma served as producer, Fuyu Harunaka was responsible for character design, and Kara Ise participated in the scriptwriting. The official store limited edition includes a 192-page collector's book featuring adapted manga, short stories, and illustrations, with the manga author and the original game character designer credited separately.

She wanted to tell Reyori about something

Kanadin encourages her hesitant companions to try new things, but is troubled by her own memory blanks: she always feels like there's something she must tell Reiyo, but can't recall the details. Reyo takes care of everyone's meals and conversations, making creating a comfortable shared life her daily goal.

Saori and the support of Hyakunenko

At first, Saori was not good at approaching her companions, but Hyakunenko's lively activities gradually helped her blend in with the group. A hundred-year-old child may seem to always liven up the atmosphere, but may feel uneasy because of youth; At this moment, she especially wished Saori would hold her until she could feel at ease.

Choose your exploration location based on material requirements

Official website material requirements specify location selection: if you need bamboo, go to the bamboo forest; if you look for tools, go to the department store; To make beds, the girls would cut bamboo. In the nighttime example, they found unripe vegetables, which the text mentions might be available later.
