Five years later, District 25
In the five years following the events of the previous work in 1999, new areas and cases have come into view. A woman was killed at Bayside Tower Land, and the investigation connected multiple individuals with different identities and positions.
Three narrative lines
The work is divided into three lines: Correctness, Placebo, and Matchmaker. Each develops its own story, together forming a picture of events in Area 25, so reading requires comparing information from different perspectives.
Returning figures
The character from the previous work, Tokio Morishima, returns in this installment, keeping the two story stages connected. The new case introduces characters and conflicts different from previous games.
Film Window
The series arranges text, characters, and scenes through multiple windows, forming the visual organization of the Film Window. The HD version recreates visual materials and adds content, presenting the original narrative style in a new display environment.
HD release
The HD version on Steam was released on March 13, 2018, developed under the credits Grasshopper Manufacture and Active Gaming Media, and published by NIS America. This date belongs to HD products and cannot be considered the launch date for the original early mobile phones.
The different responsibilities of the Criminal Police and the Adjustment Bureau
Shiroyabu comes from the rural police station to the 25th District Violent Crimes Division to investigate violent incidents under Kuroyanagi's command. The Regional Adjustment Bureau monitors residents from behind the scenes to eliminate troublesome elements and carry out the adjustments, while Tsuki excels at handling the work with a knife. The two institutions' ways of maintaining order give the normal appearance of a city different meanings.
Abnormal deaths in the tower
As an enhanced area under the 24 District plan, the 25 District originally displayed a quiet and normal daily life. A female corpse appears in the Bay Side Tower residence without external injuries, but the room is covered in blood. This case begins to shatter the facade of a perfect city. Tokio, carrying memories lost from the old Kamui incident, intervenes again in these investigations.
PS4 exclusive set
NIS America's PS4 Limited Edition includes not only the game and a collector's box, but also a hardcover art book and soundtrack, providing images and music separately as physical materials.
