Steam City and secret organizations

"Sakura Wars" is set in the alternate "Taisho era" with advanced steam technology. The first game is set in the imperial capital Tokyo, where the Imperial Strike Troupe is a secret organization responsible for defending the city, while the Flower Troupe performs publicly as an actor of the Imperial Opera Company.

Stage life and battles

On regular days, members perform at the Great Empire Theater; In times of crisis, they participate in battle using spiritual power. Theater work, member communication, and mission execution are thus interconnected, juxtaposing the public life of the opera troupe with the secret duties of the Huaji Troupe.

Trust and animated-style performance

Trust among companions is a crucial part of the game system, and character relationships become the driving force in action. The work also adopts a presentation style close to TV animation, combining daily life, events, and battles into a series-style experience.

Launch and subsequent impact

The first title was released on SEGA Saturn in September 1996 and won the CESA Award for 96 Works. The series later expanded to stages in Paris, New York, and other cities, developing animation, stage performances, and comics; The 2019 film "New Sakura Wars" is part of the later series.
