"DESIRE" is a suspense adventure game set in a remote island research facility, originally released in 1994. People who came to the institute
The DESIRE Research Center on the isolated island in the South China Sea remains shrouded in mystery. SNT reporter Albert arrives on the island to investigate and encounters Tina, a girl who has lost her memory; Inside the institute, incidents such as suspicious personnel, deaths, and explosions occur. Outsiders have limited access to certain facts, and interviews gradually become experiences that are hard to escape.

Makoto Izumi is the head of technology at the research institute and also Albert's lover. She questions the dangers of the research but clashes with Director Stella. Albert's external investigations run parallel with Makoto's internal decisions, and the differences in information each character possess form the foundation of multi-perspective narrative.
Original and remastered versions
The work is known for its multi-site structure that switches narrative perspectives. The 2017 "DESIRE remaster ver." was released for PS Vita and PC, updating the visuals and providing features to assist with progression. The remastered navigation features help players advance investigations from different perspectives.
Division of personnel at the institute
Stella was responsible for overall research, with Makoto as technical director; Cheryl and Kyle are researchers, Christie handles general affairs, and Riko is responsible for the professor's secretarial affairs. Hemei represented the consortium for an external inspection.
Medical and mechanical personnel
Dr. Gates and his adopted daughter Elena work at the medical center. Maintenance officer Sylvia has received pilot training. The person's profession and department determine the different information they can access during interviews.
Public relationships
Albert and Makoto are lovers, and Kyle's pursuit and their differences only add to the pressure on their relationship. Riko is both Makoto's close friend and Stella's secretary; Elena and Gates have both a job-assisted and adoptive father-daughter relationship.
