After Kaito loses his memory, he lives in a white room with the white-haired girl Senagi. His three dreams are recorded as experiments to rescue Senagi: modern literary stories, the Tohashi Theater troupe story, and the old car travel story gradually connect to Kaito's own past.

The room where he woke up
Kaito wakes up in a strange room, unable to confirm his own experiences. By his side is the silent white-haired girl Yonagi, and Izumo, who is responsible for observing and managing the situation. To understand his own situation, he encountered three stories that seemed unrelated to the situation.
The game does not first provide complete world rules and then have players complete tasks. The characters in the dream and the present in the facility alternate, and questions about the protagonist and Yonagi accumulate accordingly. The connection between the three CASES is the content gradually revealed by the work.
Three CASES
CASE 1 Centers on Kaoru Arishima. He once aspired to write novels, and now, amid a difficult life, he teaches and has crossed paths with Rin Hatano, the daughter of a writer he respects. Literature, family, and unfulfilled wishes are the starting points of this story.
CASE 2 Borrowing the Theatre of the Shakespeare and Elizabethan Era: Young playwrights draw creative material from the experiences of tavern guests, and gender restrictions on stage also lead to character conflict. This is a historical story set in the work and cannot be used as evidence of Shakespeare's true life.
In CASE 3, Amei Kanna leaves university to repair the camper van left by her late mother, trying to find the scenery in her mother's paintings. Encounters with Sumomo and Azuki, vehicle repairs, and journeys all drive this story forward. Here, the name spelling on the English product page is used.
Relationships between chapters
The three stories are not arranged by side quests set in the same era and place, but rather gradually approach the questions raised by the main framework through their respective emotions and character experiences. The official English product name, Cyanotype Daydream, is also used for Steam distribution.
The info card preserves the release record of the original Japanese work, and the 2022 date listed on the Steam page corresponds to the international release product. Regarding textual revisions and specific inclusion differences, it is necessary to verify each product; the introduction of a single release cannot be used as proof that all versions are identical.
Production
This work is a Laplacian work, with official promotional credits listing Wasabi Ono's planning and script work, as well as visual creations by Shimofuri and Peretto. The multi-chapter structure requires visuals to depict different living environments, and character design and scenes revolve around each case.
White room with the final dream
Kaito only remembers the dream before waking up and learns that the house arrest and dream records were arranged by his own actions before he lost his memory. As the three dreams progress, Senagi gradually regains himself and eventually disappears from the facility. In his final dream, Kaito relived the memories he had lost. Izumo is the intelligent robot in the facility, and Yuma once guided young Kaito in understanding science and virtual space research.
CASE 1: Literature, Fatherhood, and Marriage
Yoshi Arishima, 45 years old, once gave up his writing dream because of his respected university senior, Akifusa Hatano, and now has a distant relationship with his editor wife, Sachiko. At the former professor's funeral, he meets Rin, the daughter of Akifa Akifa and their literary exchange, which leads him to write again. The stage for the Nichi-China official website is the 2016 Yumemi City Hiiragi Gakuen Affiliated School, with the international English introduction changed to a university.
CASE 2: Tavern, Engagement, and Theater Company
Will runs a tavern with his blind father and writes using his memory ability to remember customer conversations. To find venison for his father, he sneaked into the noble Harold's estate and was captured, but was later rescued by Olivia and hired as a playwright for the troupe. Olivia disguised herself as a man on stage, and her engagement to Harold concerns the family's future. The story takes place in the fictional Ten Bridges in 1595, and the theatre is not the real Globe Theatre in London.
CASE 3: The past in the garage
After losing her mother, Kanna Amei refused to go to school and lived in an old camper van in her home garage. Intern teacher Sumomo Momonouchi came to persuade others to go to school; After scrap metal hunter Azusa Matsukaze drives away, Kana drives without a license, damaging her car and base, and the two women enter his life. The Japanese-Chinese version features students at affiliated schools, with English international introductions using college settings.
Character dubbing and music
Yu Asakawa voices Senagi, Rin, Olivia, and Sumo, while Marie Miyake voices Shoko, Azusahime, and Izumo. momo participated in four OPs and some EDs, Yuki performed the original nine lead vocal tracks, and Muu Dogg handled the sound and soundtrack. CASE1 Vulcaniro, CASE2 Kaze no Uta (adapted version), CASE3 Summer Time Capsule (re-edited old songs), CASE0 Nagiida Umi no Umi no Uchi no O (Like a Calm Sea), original for momo.
International edition and official novel
The Cyanotype Daydream international Steam version is available in Japanese, English, and Chinese Simplified, with adjusted ratings and added post-CASE0 stories, event CGs, extra stories and videos for each CASE, and Rin's costume and age were also updated. The first volume of the official novel is written by Wasabi Yuono, illustrated by Shimofuri, and published by KADOKAWA on November 29, 2025.
CASE 1: Notes, Writing, and Farewell
In the Akifu study, Arishima reads about his senior's struggles with writing, falls into self-loathing, and is at one point on the brink of death. After reopening Rin's message, he picked up his pen for her, restoring his willingness to express his feelings. After learning of her pregnancy, Rin decided not to let her child bear the loneliness she inherited from her parents any longer; She used her father's inheritance to leave Arishima and chose to raise her children herself.
CASE 2: Whistleblowing and the final stage
Ed, the priest who helped Will's father, was arrested for providing intelligence to Marlowe, and Will then devoted himself seriously to the troupe's creative work. Marlowe later discovers Olivia disguising herself as a man, leading to the company's arrest; Olivia returns to Harold's side to rescue her companion. Will negotiates with the Queen for a chance to perform together, allowing them to perform Romeo and Juliet at court, but they still have to part ways after the show.
CASE 3: From my mother's scenery to my own photos
Kanna always wanted to recreate the scenery in his late mother's sketches, but after finding a similar location, what truly attracted him was Sumomo's profile. He confirmed his desire to photograph people and decided to attend school while assisting his late mother's photographer friend, Spencer Arashiyama. On the last day of her internship, Sumomo stopped suppressing her appearance and thoughts and expressed her true feelings to the students; On the night the comet was at its closest, the two set their respective targets and agreed to meet again later.
CASE 0: Breaking with underground society and research
Kaito and Senagi grow up in an underground society built to escape ultraviolet rays, with residents divided into upper, middle, and lower levels. Kaito took on the labor for his mother, whose body gradually became immobile, studying science with absolute memory, and later joined Yuma's research team. Senagi allows people to see their own thoughts, forming the foundation for virtual space research; After her memory collapsed, Kaito decided to terminate the experiment. Yuma forcibly abducted Senagi, received research data, and artificially took over her self.
CASE 0: The Self in Dreams and Becoming the World
People who moved to the virtual space repeatedly saw the same dreams, prompting Yuma to seek help from Kaito again. Rin, Olivia, and Sumomo are the clones in Senagi's consciousness. The three farewell stories originated from her desire to leave memories of her amnesiac self. Kaito, Izumo, and others attempt to restore Senagi's sense of self; She later developed a basic lack of desire syndrome, and upon learning it was incurable, she voluntarily chose to create a new world for humanity. Kaito enters the virtual space to tell her story, and at the end, meets Senagi with her own self.
The origin of the CASE number
Each CASE stage corresponds to Laplacian's first three works, with reused backgrounds and music. Numbering follows the order in which the previous works were published, while novel adaptations start from CASE 3.
The creative position of CASE3
Ono designed CASE3 as one of the lighter segments in the long story, letting summer, cars, and garage life carry stories of youth and lighten the atmosphere between each CASE.
Cover design for the first volume of the novel
The cover of the first volume of the 2025 novel was drafted by Shimojiri, arranged according to the editor's SF suspense direction, with Senagi and the female protagonist of this volume arranged, and color and composition compared according to the library size. This is a record of the novel's production.
The collaboration between novel illustration and design
In the first volume of the novel, the main text, illustrations, and layout design were all handled by Laplacian, who was responsible for the design; The team first confirmed internally before submitting to the editorial office.
Posture revision in the second volume of the novel
The cover of the second volume in 2026 records the making. The draft originally piled the book but was later changed to hold it by Senagi due to the shoulder angle; After the visuals unfold, the team discussed and gradually corrected any inconsistencies.
Selection and rearrangement of old soundtracks
CASE 1 only reuses the piano-led soundtrack from the old work 'キミトユメミシ', deepening the reverberation to maintain a consistent atmosphere with the rest of the main piece.
At the beginning of CASE 2, Ram4.Mark II changes "Luxurious Days" from four to three time signatures. The stage music was rearranged by Muu Dogg, a Celtic EDM opening scheme not previously used by Xelfery; The original concept was included in the limited edition OST.
