Technology on the island
To prevent further population decline, society developed the technology to create humans, but gradually exceeded its original goals. The boy on the island, Takano Yoichi, is considered an "Ajin" and may be sent to the mainland in the future to become a laborer. The official story introduction starts from this system background but places the immediate life around his activities with his companions.
Learn ordinary life
The interactions between characters involve small actions such as eating, greetings, and playing games together. The playthrough reviews specifically discuss the Chiharu Church and its daily etiquette, as well as the process by which this influence continues to be passed on to others. For a work, being able to imitate a movement and truly treat it as part of life forms a clue to understanding the character's growth.
How can one become human?
Yoichi's background always distinguishes between "human" and "sub-human," but the work also allows readers to observe emotions beyond this classification. The 2018 signed review explored the emptiness after desires are satisfied, imitation, and the acquisition of human nature from a reading perspective. This is the reviewer's interpretation of the work, not as a standard conclusion already announced by the producers.
The era of mechanization and demi-humans
Technological development has made society dependent on machines, with many people choosing cryogenic hibernation, leading to a decline in population and labor force. As a result, the factory created human-shaped demi-humans and made them work. By 21XX, demi-humans had become widespread.
Student life on the island
Takano Yoichi is an Ajin living on a small island east of the Eastern Country, originally destined to become a laborer sent to the mainland in the future. He is in the same class as the outspoken Sakuzo Ninomiya and Ren Oizumi, who loves makeup; his younger sister Chiharu likes cooking; The fencing club captain, Bai Jiuguang, worked with him to maintain order on campus.
Other campus figures
Shenlin Yongzi dislikes crowds and is very capable on campus; Dr. Komatsuna often takes short naps in the health room. His personality opens up with changes in the environment, and he gets involved in more matters due to the behavior of Level 2 and his companions.
Production and reading scale
