Yangzi voices 'Song of Sowing'
When Sayumi Watanabe recorded "Song of Sowing," she first included 16-year-old Yoko, then included the adult version. Youth emphasizes clear and strong expression, while adulthood is slower and calmer, considering foreshadowing that the character already knows about future journeys. After the staff reminded her about her sense of language and age, she adjusted them step by step.
In an interview published in October 2024, Watanabe recalled the scene in the prologue of "The Song of Sowing" where Yoko bids farewell to her mother. She cried too much during recording, so she re-recorded the scene.
Yoko's recording audition
Sayumi Watanabe was arranged by the agency to participate in Yoko's recording audition. She felt every line was perfectly fitting, and after recording, she told her agent that she seemed destined to be with this character; This feeling comes from his own judgment, not from the staff's comments on the spot.
The voice was half awake, half awake
When recording Yoko's half-awake half-sleep scene in 'Land of Spring,' Sayumi Watanabe was asked to perform a cuter role. In the interview, she compared this moment of voice to Yoko's usual assertive demeanor.
