Original artwork invitations and single-line low-cost projects
Yasuo recalls that Aokyun proposed a collaboration because he liked the original artwork by Buntake Moegihara; Lump of Sugar was unable to accept full-priced original art projects from foreign publishers for the first time due to internal work arrangements. Later, the project was clearly defined as a single-line, low-priced work with a predetermined direction and timeline, and only then did Lump of Sugar accept the collaboration.
Coordinating the role concepts of both brands
To balance the real-life stage often used in Aokyun's directed works with Lump of Sugar's beast-ear image, Hoo designed Shining☆Girlfriend's female lead as a streamer and had her virtual character use beast-ear designs.
The male protagonist's design is an iteration
Shining☆Girlfriend's first draft for the male protagonist failed and was redesigned three times afterward; The petite and nearly feminine design is used to express the character's sense of inferiority and contrasts with the theme of the virtual world.
The plot positions of non-selected characters and guests
In the April 2025 production notes for 'First Love Masterup,' Aokyun reserved scenes for the unchosen female lead where her confession was rejected or her feelings were not expressed. Guests from previous games connect with inheritance and game development through relationships such as the protagonist's relatives, trading companies, screenwriters, and voice actors, and their appearance arrangements must align with the current story.
The voice actors considered during the script stage
When Kaname Shiratsuki recalled the recording of "From Friends to Koibito," the on-site screenwriter allowed her to freely portray Hisagi Amakusa and explained that she was considered during the writing stage; The original artist also acknowledges this sound impression.
