When confronting Ryuichi, Sanada explained that he needed Umi's life force to sustain Hinako's life. Hinako rushed over, deciding to fight alongside him. Haimei copies his playing cards and launches a sneak attack, regains her vitality, and returns it to Long Yi; When Ryuichi further unleashed the Thunder Spear, Sanada stepped forward to protect Hinako.
When Sagara Ichigo explained to Sanada that he wanted to uncover the mastermind behind the series of events, the only clue Sanada knew was the name Odin.
