Music box and the Kihara family

Kyosuke Makami is hired by the Narumi Detective Agency and is the only detective in the agency. After Director Seiji Narumi disappeared, his daughter Kyoka took over the management, but she had no detective experience. Kyosuke also does odd jobs for the antique shop owner, Narumi Tsukishima, when a damaged music box leads him to the Kihara family's murder case.

Six stories revolve around different antiques. The client, the case, and acquaintances around the detective gradually come into contact, and the previously scattered investigation unfolds into a shared conspiracy.

The office and the neighborhood

Kyoka is warm-hearted and finds it hard to stay away from those in trouble. Seongmi runs the Sekundum antique shop, has known Kyoka for a long time, but often has a discord with her; His assistant, Teppei Shiraishi, handles the store's odd tasks and also becomes Kyosuke's investigative partner.

Nanako Kamoi, a high school employee at the Cyberlia online café, is their friend. The lawyer investigates Gao Gui and has an old acquaintance with the missing Seiji Narumi. On the police side, Hiroshi Himuro appears lazy but has sharp judgment, while his subordinate Naoharu Morikawa dislikes detectives meddling in cases and often argues with Kyosuke.

Principals and related individuals

Jun Kano is a blind girl taken in by the Kihara family, gifted in music; Idol candidate Yui Kasugano participated in a show where popularity votes determined her debut chance; Li Liangxue, who came to Japan with her uncle, received help from Kyosuke and Zheping.

Madoka Akahara has lived in Yurin Hospital for a long time and regards the teddy bear sent by her father as an important companion. After her father was killed, Satsuki Hatano entrusted Kyosuke to investigate, while also worrying about her sister Mutsumi, who had a tense relationship with their father and was unwilling to cooperate with the case.

Survey methods

Players move between locations, inspect the scene, and ask characters questions. The chosen investigative actions influence subsequent developments, and the dialogue also serves to provide clues. The images are presented using a combination of backgrounds, character portraits, and event illustrations in 2D materials.

Complete and additional stories

The series was released in separate volumes for Dreamcast and PlayStation 2. The PSP version of MISSING Parts Complete, released on November 29, 2012, combined the six main stories and added Extra Parts by the original production team.

The bonus chapter begins with two photos entrusted by Nanako: the recipients are Kyoka and Narumi. Afterwards, the informant Emi Momoike informed Kyosuke and Teppei that Sammy, the owner of the bar Hard Luck, was missing; However, there was no obvious chaos inside the shop, and the two began investigating the photos and the disappearance.

Production

The script was written by Yuki Nishinomiya, and the character was designed by Daisaku Kishigami from O-TWO. FOG representative Noriyuki Munekiyo mentioned in the PSP version development review that the additional chapter responded to players' desire to see these characters again. Daisaku Kishigami previously participated in character design for 'Storm Comes 2.'
