Start with color to develop the theme
In a 2017 interview, Saine said her subjects often start with the impression of colors like blonde hair or white dresses. When she can't come up with a content, she consults color reference books to let color combinations bring out the ideas for the image.
First, limit the colors used in illustrations
She would first decide which colors to use, avoiding mixing too many colors into a single painting. When talking about her commonly used pinks, aqua blues, and purples, she also reminded that converting these colors to CMYK tends to appear grayish, which is something she should pay attention to in her printing color schemes.

In the 2017 spring uniform illustration demonstration, Saine used pink as the main color, adjusted poses, expressions, and decorations during the draft stage, and first drew rough shadows to review the overall look. After completing the draft, she copied the data from her portable device to her home computer and continued drawing in CLIP STUDIO PAINT, dividing the character and background flowers into different line art layers.
