Summer in Chang'e Town

In the summer of Showa 58 (1973), sixteen-year-old Dr. Kuzumi moved into Chang'e Town, far from the city. The river divides the area into Old Town Street and New Town Street, where old legends, customs, and new residences coexist. The PhD, who was previously inconspicuous, now receives unusually enthusiastic attention from classmates. Only the class representative, Kushina Tianmin, deliberately kept his distance from him and warned him not to approach the old city street.

Those who moved in and the residents were involved

Masaaki Kuzumi is the father of the Doctor and Mana Kuzumi. Zhengming writes novels as well as works on folklore and history, and is interested in the culture of small towns. Isuzu Suzuru and his brother, university student Issei Suteki, are local figures the Doctor comes across; Issei has a handsome appearance and is good at taking care of others, making him popular around him. Kaname Asagiri is also a main character.

Another side of town

Kenki Junichiro often explores the town, but his purpose is unclear; Kaori Mana is known to residents for her outstanding violin performance. Director Shigeji Kushinada of Chang'e Medical Center researches pathology and is also familiar with pharmacy and clinical psychology; Local influential figure Shigezo Kushinada opposed the new residents and the construction of the new city street. The attitudes of different people in town toward change form the mystery that gradually draws the Doctor closer.

Narrative and performance

The game is built around ten interconnected stories, weaving together recurring nightmares with the actions of each character. In the PSP version, Professor Kuzumi is voiced by Yuu Kobayashi, Mana as Saki Fujita, Isuzu as Emiri Kato, Nemuri as Mariya Ise, and Kaname as Mai Fuchigami. The distance between the characters and the unnatural closeness are key clues in the opening suspense.

Music and distribution

Kenji Ito composed the music for this work. The KONAMI Style exclusive special edition includes themed headphones and an original soundtrack CD in addition to the game; The CD includes 24 tracks for the opening, ending, and soundtrack. The game and later TV anime each had their own distribution and music materials; the anime theme song was not included in this game soundtrack.
