Voice casting and recording collaboration
In a 2003 interview with the LucasArts sound department, Darragh O'Farrell explained that long-term collaboration had familiarized him with the actors' abilities and suitable roles, enabling him to arrange voices for Star Wars games more quickly; Original games still require a lengthy audition. He especially emphasized the voice selection of five or six main characters, using Manny and others as examples, emphasizing that actors must have matching voices and sufficient acting ability.
Darragh sees the support of the recording team and department coordinators as key to continuing to work as a voice director. According to his explanation, coordinators can understand work needs in advance, ensuring that recording arrangements and directing work are seamlessly aligned.
