Never 7's opening theme song vocal selection
KOKOMI wrote the lyrics from a character's perspective for "Night Sky Where Hundreds of Billions of Stardust Falls," explaining that she adopted a slightly cute singing style for that reason. She explained the opening theme of the song by combining the "beginning" imagery with the dark sounds at the end of "Blooming Flower."
Lyrics, structure, and recording of the 2009 single
When writing lyrics for the anime "11eyes" "Sequentia," KOKOMI chose the title based on the battle imagery of praying for friends and tomorrow, incorporating original images such as the red night, moon, and darkness into the lyrics. She explained that the hymn's title contrasts with the intense sound.
She explained that the full song begins with a section she considers the main chorus, while the TV ending theme starts from the second section.
While making "Wearing Through the Darkness of the Mirror," she thought the battle wasn't over yet and hoped the song would be more powerful and fast-paced, though she wasn't sure which one it would be used for. She also explained that the song only has two choruses, with sections C and D.
While recording these two songs, KOKOMI said she paid more attention than ever to vocalizing from her abdomen to prepare for a more powerful vocal style.
Music learning after meeting
In a 2014 interview, KOKOMI recalled that he originally mainly listened to mainstream J-POP, but only began to understand visual kei music after meeting Keisuke Kurose, and under his introduction, he revisited the learning curve.
