A device left behind by his father
Takuya, a student at Sakaicho Academy, receives a mysterious package after his father is declared dead, containing a Reflector device that allows him to access different worlds. The experiences of family, classmates, and teachers gradually unravel the hidden secrets of Sakai Town and Ken no Misaki.
ADMS and Baoyu archives
The automatic branching map system displays the story's branches as traceable structures. Players use jewels to leave a return point at a certain location, obtain clues or items from other branches, and then return to previously blocked events to attempt new actions.
Items in parallel routes
Items obtained on one route may become conditions for another. Revisiting isn't just about reselecting dialogues; it also requires combining knowledge and items gained across routes, so the overall puzzle relies on information transfer between different experiences.
Characters and performances
Takuya lives with his stepmother Ayumi, while transfer student Kana, classmate Mio, and school doctor Eriko each have their own independent situations. The remake features new character designs and voice acting; Settings allow switching between original and remastered BGM, and volume can be adjusted separately.
Editions and Bonuses
The PS4 and PS Vita versions were released on March 16, 2017, while overseas releases for PS4, Switch, and Steam were in 2019. The first press bonus once included a revised PC-98 version DLC, and the redemption period has ended. The limited edition soundtrack includes the original work, remake, and arrangement, along with commentary by Ryu Takami and Yonao Keishi.
Analysis and trade-offs in remastered music
Yonao first analyzed the PC-98 raw data piece by song, organized the constantly shifting melodies, and then listened to them to confirm. He started with a less-changed first draft, gradually adding dynamic and weak elements, raw instruments, and cinematic treatment; After completing the entire batch of drafts, they were revised again, and the first full submission took about five to six months.
Takami Ryu recalled that after discussing with Yonao, the two chose to keep the intervals, length, and breathing of Umemoto's original songs, fix musical issues, and avoid arbitrarily adding content.
Remastered: Version differences in prologue input
The official remake website explains the Prologue ADV separately from the main gameplay: on PS4 and Vita, select commands like "Watch" or "Talk" during Prologue; The Switch prologue is the same as the main game, progressing by selecting icons with the cursor.
