Triple sourcing
The protagonist participates in a media coverage contest called Miecon, searching for materials, taking photos, and submitting within four weeks. The game presents roads and attractions in 360 degrees, featuring over 100 interview locations covering historical sites, natural scenery, dining, and entertainment facilities.
Cycling, interviewing, and camping
During the day, I cycled around, took photos and interviews upon arriving at the site, and organized reports in the tent at night. Travel and interviews both consume energy, and once exhausted, the day's itinerary ends and you head to camping. The fifth installment adds ship traffic, allowing you to travel to waterways like Dolphin Island; Camera movement during cornering has also been adjusted.
During the interview, you can experience local foods such as Ise udon, pork cutlet, and seafood. What topics to collect and how much energy you spend on the road will affect how much you can complete in a day.
Reporting and ranking
The manuscripts are categorized into seven categories based on scenery, cuisine, history, entertainment, hot springs, roads, and nature. Consecutive submissions on similar topics help compete for rankings, and photo clarity also affects likes. After publishing, you can view reader comments and likes.
Reports by competitive journalist Akane Shikama will also appear in the competition. The historical sites she seeks can become clues as the protagonist continues his journey.
Three companions
Akane Shikama is voiced by Yuri Fujimoto, a reporter from another media outlet, and the story is based on historical sites related to Yoshitaka Kuki. Yuzuki Sonohara is voiced by Chihaya Yumori, enjoys photography, seeks out hidden spots and landscapes, and once misunderstood the protagonist as a conversation when they first met.
Anika Tabuchi, voiced by Ayaka Fujimoto, is the daughter of the president of a conglomerate corporation. In the past, she lacked opportunities to travel freely and hoped to experience entertainment spots, with bodyguard Reiko Atsumi accompanying her all the way.
Traveling characters connect with the series
The protagonist also encounters street performer Kageen Kuroba, restaurant owner Naoyuki Takeuchi, and Yoko Himari, who calls herself a carefree traveler. Reiko, Kagero, Naoyuki, and Yoko are voiced by Mao Yabuki, Ryuki Harumi, Toshitaka Ueyanagi, and Mai Mochizuki, respectively.
The protagonist of "Wind and Rain" and "Wind and Rainfall 2," Soma Uzashi, also appears in this work, voiced by Yuru Watanabe. He is already a seasoned reporter and is still searching for the ideal photo.
Release and soundtrack
The Switch, PS5, and PS4 versions will be released on July 31, 2025; The official Japanese website announced the Steam version's release date as November 27 of the same year. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes a digital artbook featuring music from all previous works, photos of the fifth series, and character illustrations.
The limited first edition includes five music CDs: two each from the first and second works, and the fifth from the third to the fifth series. Music from the fifth album, ROUTE 42, and the swaying ferry are listed on tracks 8 and 9 of the fifth album, respectively.
The connection between the rider's perspective and the turn
While riding, the camera can rotate 360 degrees, allowing you to see not only the surrounding scenery but also the protagonist riding the motorcycle himself. The "curve representation" at turns moves the line of sight in the new direction, reducing the sense of screen cutouts when changing direction and helping to identify the current driving position.
