The beginning of the series
Hideo Kanbaru was living an ordinary life with his wife and child, but was suddenly thrown into a desolate world. During the chase of the giant monster, a mysterious robot appears before him. The series centers on the theme of "becoming a father," placing family life together with the experiences of an abnormal world.
Chapter placement
The series order is Prologue, Vol.1, Vol.2, Vol.3, and FINAL. Vol.3 continues from Volume 2, while the full story still needs to be followed by FINAL. These chapter titles correspond to the serialization structure and cannot be regarded as the third volume as the final chapter.
Included in the free edition
The free version released on January 28, 2022, was divided into two packages: the software labeled Vol.3 includes the prologue to the third volume, with the final version provided separately. The second volume is included in the previous package.
Creation and operating environment
Author Makina reflected on the creation by saying that the series took several years to serialize, with additional appearances reduced to focus on the long story. The free version uses AIRNovel, listing Windows and Mac; The author also warns that changes to Adobe AIR versions may cause compatibility issues.
Characters in the series
The Kamihara family includes Hideo, his wife Narumi, his son Daisuke, and his daughter Mai. Sakurako and Tetsu are also important characters in the series. Volume 2 clearly depicts their differing attitudes toward heroes relying on retrys; These known backgrounds are first connected within the corresponding chapters.
Collection size and scope of independent volumes
The series is divided into five parts: Prologue, Vol.1, Vol.2, Vol.3, and FINAL. The 2022 free Vol.3 package actually includes the first four parts, while the FINAL is included separately. A million words and over twenty hours cover the entire series.
The author's writing goal
In her 2024 review, Makina confirmed that the series centers on the father, running for several years, with fewer extra appearances to focus on long-form writing.
The structure of the third volume review
Volume Three returns to the past of the main characters from the previous two volumes, unfolding a collective portrait through the experiences of Shogo, Kyo, Tetsuro, and Eiyuu, filling in the choices and connections they made before reaching their current predicament.
Visiting me and my father
Shou Wo lived a wealthy life but was in a harsh family environment, and the impact of Sae's suicide is also reflected upon. After his parents divorced, he had a poor relationship with his father who took him in and turned to living in seclusion; His favorite games supported him, and later, with the help of magic, he began communicating with his father again through games.
Kyo, Non-chan, and Brain
Kyo's encounter and parting with the magical user Non-chan are linked to the origin of the artificial intelligence brain. Volume Three introduces real magic and connects the world principles here to the 0 and 1 worlds manifested in Volume One; Shizu accepted Jing's commission.
Tetsuro and Sakurako
Tetsuro Yamanouchi, also known as Tetsu from Onizakura. Sakurako pulled the thought-probed boy to play baseball, making him the cleanup hitter, encouraging him to actively seek joy in life through their joint actions.
The Hero's Choice and Gen Takeda
The hero relives life after meeting Narumi, facing the choice of following the same path or changing paths to avoid despair. Gen Takeda is both his mentor and Sakurako's 'foster father'; Heroes are influenced by their mentors, and even if the chance is small, they still hope to find happiness together with their families.
