Residence case
A homeless man dies in his mansion. On the surface, the scene looks like an accident, but Saburo Jinguji senses something is wrong. After investigating with an old friend, he found the culprit, prompting the homeowner Yagami to propose a new commission. The next day, the situation takes a sudden turn, as events from thirty years ago and figures known as "undead" gradually come into view.
Survey methodology
Players gather clues by observing, asking, and moving around locations. Key locations allow for detailed exploration, finding keys, opening rooms, and discovering hidden spaces. The TPS conversation analysis segment requires gathering information from conversations, with planners and personal belongings used to organize leads; The "Smoking" instruction retains the series of thinking cues.
Short stories are included
The game also includes remasters of chapters 21–24 from the old mobile version: 'The Legend of the Demon Princess', 'Because of Love', 'Memories of the Forget-Me-not', and 'Yarameku Hitotose'. They each involve an old novel, a Kabukicho dispute, a commission from eight years ago, and an agreement with an antique shop. The new "Mysterious Case Files" is set in a locked room during the university festival preparations, using comedic expressions derived from the series.
Release and special editions
The game was released on August 31, 2017, for the 3DS, graded CERO B. The first edition bonus included a download code for the FC-style 'Yokohama Port Serial Murders' and console themes for the three main characters; These download bonuses differ from the four mobile remasters included in the main game.
Original digital distribution
On March 25, 2021, ARC SYSTEM WORKS announced the download and streaming of game music, listing "GHOST OF THE DUSK オリジナルサウンドトラック" within the Saburo Jinguji series.
Four-letter and additional mode
The four-letter English password in the game can be used to unlock additional modes. The official website uses discovering such a monogram combination as a clue to try the entry point for additional modes.

Mysterious Case Files: The Suffocation of the Committee Room
