Reporters and murder cases
William, nicknamed Will, worked at the tabloid Daily London. He tracks down the killer known as "Jack the Ripper," gathering information and searching for clues in different parts of the city. The work borrows themes from London and the Ripper, while adding supernatural elements. The narrative is fictional suspense, not a documentary recreation of real cases.
Cohabitants and witnesses
Karen is the daughter of the newspaper editor and Will's childhood friend; Fran is a white-clad girl who often appears at crime scenes. Alicia, the landlord's daughter, is frail and sickly, rarely going out. During the investigation, Will also encounters a male cross-dresser named Ainie, who leads him into the slums to pursue the case.
Routes in different directions
The character story roughly revolves around three relationships: Karen and Fran, Alicia, and Lisa and Aini. Each group explores the cause of the incident, personal obsessions, and the killer's actions, but their observations are not exactly the same. After completing certain routes, further routes connect the entire story, giving the previous tragedies new backdrops.
Selecting materials and making them
The process includes selecting the location of action and dialogue options, with clinics, the Tower of London, and other urban settings participating in organizing the investigation progress. The PS2 version was released on July 29, 2004, with Katsunori Kobayashi responsible for planning and script, and Chisato Naruse responsible for character design and main visuals; Akiko Kawase, Fumiko Orikasa, Sawa Ishige, and others participated in the character voice acting.
Journalists in nineteenth-century London
Apprentice journalist William Dosteen works for Daily London, investigating a Jack-style murder case. The story sets in London places the Industrial Revolution, classical novel characters, alchemy, and artificial life forms on the same stage, with each character's daily life gradually intertwining with the case.
Living with a family and street people
William lives with Editor-in-Chief Scott's family and spends time with his daughter Karen. Milia cares for her daughter Alicia, who has a heart defect, while Annie sells newspapers and steals in the slums. There are also the maid Yoon-hwa, who was once rescued by nobles; the unlicensed acupuncturist Yoo-eun; the fortune teller Lisa; and the white-clad girl Fran, who repeatedly appears at murder scenes.
Production and distribution changes
Written by Katsunori Kobayashi, character illustrations by Chisato Naruse, and published by PrincessSoft for PS2 and Windows. A report from March 2004 announced a May launch, while the manufacturer's date change record in June changed the date to July 29.
