From the footage to the prototype version of "The Outsider."
In his reflections on the production of "The Outsider," Lin Zhengjun recalled that although the first version of the script, character art, music, and code was already available in 2016, most of them were still scattered material, and discussions about the story and ending did not directly drive production. In the first half of 2018, the team spent three months completing a demo of about ten minutes, beginning with line art and background presentations, showing members for the first time the combined effect of text, music, and visuals.
Task Kanban and Continuous Delivery
Lin Zhengjun recounted that demo feedback helped the team organize urgently needed art materials, programming errors, and minimum functions, then break tasks into smaller parts and share them on the Trello board for members to claim. Subsequent development continues to expand demos, quickly turning new content into playable games, which creators and other members can try and evaluate.
