From collaborative art books to game planning
Benio recalls that "LACKGIRL" was originally an illustration collection co-produced with 91 in 2015. With the addition of story and music, Akao decided to integrate these parts into an ADV game, turning the previously separate content into a unique work form.
Hand-drawn images and divisional production plans
In the 2019 public preparation notes, Benio proposed to draw and color all the character images herself; Considering the production time required for this project, Akao planned to divide the game into three parts and release them one by one.
The performance at the end of the first part was enhanced
On November 25, 2022, Benio explained in the LACKGIRL event report that she was working on game debugging and enhancements to performances, with the first part already close to release.
Movement elements in hairstyles
When designing the hot spring musume, Yuina Kusatsu, Akao received requests for a bun hairstyle and considered how to make the hairstyle showcase the charm of the central character. Benio added twin tail elements, hoping that the characters' movements would also sync with their movements.
Reduce decoration to preserve the character's characteristics
Benio chose simple and easily recognizable clothing for Yuina Kusatsu, reducing patterns and motifs to avoid adding elements that would scatter the design advantages. Benio also considered the convenience of character movements and the cuteness when others drew them; When the hot spring elements are not directly added, the focus is on preserving the Japanese breeze and refreshing feel.
