The 3D model is converted into a two-dimensional image
In her 2022 MINAMOTO collaboration, Shiratama first observed freely rotatable 3D models, then transformed them into her own 2D paintings; She intentionally reconstructed details like clothing according to the visual effect, without making physical consistency the sole standard.
Circular composition and the conversion of painting tools
During the 2022 collaboration on "Trails and Intersection," Shiratama considered drawing a perfectly round portal directly, and ultimately had the illustrator draw the rings themselves to echo the painting's theme. While the prototype works are made with various tools, she swaps the props in the 2D images for those used by illustrators.
Commissioned illustration and document production
In a 2021 email interview, Shiratama said that it is easier to start drafts when the requests are broad or when using her own original characters. Faced with the client's detailed original character specifications, even without a retouch, Shiratama carefully considers whether the finished artwork matches the client's vision.
Shiratama uses publicly available requested illustrations to produce live streams, then delivers PSDs to commissioners and participants. She tried to separate files according to the production stage and kept separate layers, allowing the other party to watch the live stream save while opening the file and understand how the work was completed. A brief written explanation is also attached to the document.
