Training institute and first audition work
After graduating from high school, Kotono Mitsuishi entered Katsuta Voice Actor Academy, where she had the opportunity to observe recording studios during training and received a small number of jobs. In a 2008 interview, she recalled that the first time she got a corporate promotional video through audition; At that time, fully analog recording was used, and a single mistake would place a heavy burden on the surrounding staff.
Stage rehearsals and live performances
Kotono Mitsuishi and her training school partners founded the Akapera Club Theater Troupe. The longer rehearsal times on stage allow her to experiment with different performance styles; She believes this practice has helped her be more composed in dubbing scenes where quick reactions are required.

In a 2008 interview, Kotono Mitsuishi recalled that after the end of Neon Genesis Evangelion TV and early films, she repeatedly recorded Misato Katsuragi's lines for games and other media by herself.
