Resurrection drug incident
After work, Cole was invited to visit scientist Dr. Cooger to observe a drug experiment that could revive dead organisms. The potion triggers an anomaly, and an accident in the cemetery escalates the situation. Cole, his girlfriend Sheila, and the Doctor must find a safe place and investigate the issues behind the resurrection pill.
The survivors
In the PC Engine version, the hotel becomes a gathering place for many survivors, where characters like Sally, Cain, Cathy, and Killer talk with Cole. Information and trust among fugitives influence the investigation, and the doctor's research records are also important clues for understanding the events.
Location and progress
The investigation went through the 16th Precinct, hotel, market, the doctor's residence, and the hospital, finally arriving at Bayside Labs. Repeated observation of the environment, dialogue, and use of props gradually unlock new locations; The resurrection drug and research facilities together form the main storyline.
Orders and timed events
The PC Engine version uses commands such as observe, talk, retrieve, use, aim, and move. Some scenarios have time constraints, requiring timely selection and operation; Usually, investigations and emergency actions alternate.
PC version and compilation
F&C's official catalog lists this game as being released in April 1992, supporting PC-98, FM-TOWNS, X68000, and MSX series, with notes that different models may have different dates. DEAD OF THE BRAIN 1 & 2 later combined this game and its sequel on PC Engine discs and was released in 1999.
Nightmare Collection
This title belongs to FairyTale's Nightmare Collection, forming a catalog alongside DEAD OF THE BRAIN 2 and Marine Philt. The second installment is a direct sequel; the compilation of the first work cannot replace the story of the second game.
