Works and stages
The official website refers to 'Going Human' as an experimental digital novel, divided into two volumes: I and II. The stage for I. is Pengque High School, a prestigious school that values academic performance and discipline. The secret campus organization, the Police Security Bureau, investigates and suppresses theft, disappearance, and even serious cases before the police do; The school appears orderly, but in reality, there is a secret network of power.
I.: Student Survey Section Chief
The protagonist is an 18-year-old high school student and the head of the Second Investigation Division of the Police Security Bureau of the Secret Police Department. He usually sneaks into the campus as a student to monitor and prevent incidents. He solved cases by intuition, with his subordinate Tatsuo Hayami assisting in the investigation; She has a rivalry with the newly established section chief of the third division, Higashikuni Suiko. After an incident in autumn, the protagonist begins investigating the crime while questioning why he pushes the story forward in such a way.
II.: Baroque syndrome
The second volume pulls back to the autumn of the first story. The media heats discussions about a series of inexplicable social events, and the head of Section Two of the Secret Affairs Department is disgusted by such hype; Then, a cat murder occurs at the Pojaku High School breeding house, and he and Tatsuo begin investigating. II. Using a new group of characters and different narrative perspectives, it continues to address the boundaries between memory, personality, and event interpretation.
Experimental Narratives and Versions
The work organizes its narrative through "vertical story holes" and multiple paths: different routes intersect and converge, and the remnants of the finished story become the starting point for the next reading. The official website offers downloads of I and II, listing the K2Cee team, @lice (main script), kow@suhito (director and programming), and Nichino (character design, key animation, coloring).
Section Chief, Department Members, and Investigation Agency
The protagonist acts as the head of the mountaineering club at school, so Hayami calls him the head, but both belong to the Second Investigation Section. Midoriko leads the newly established Three Lessons, competing with the protagonist; Their mutual direct superior, the deputy director, used the intelligence section to arrange the situation, and their power relationship was not limited to a single case.
Group image and naming in II
The second volume features public figures such as Kaho, Lunan, Tsura, Fura, Eizo, and Eiji. Most of the short essays are discussed rather than resumed. Utaho's naming is questioned, and the explanation Arise gave to Tsuro is corrected by Mari; Terminology in the film often serves both as the characters' statements and as the subject of discussion.
79 tracks of original soundtrack and arranged album
The 'Departures' OST/A & IST includes 59 original soundtracks and 20 tracks of arranged and impression songs, composed and edited by G9Fried. The tracklist also marks seven tracks as unused; 'I and Watashi' appear in the original tracks 26 and 53, with the latter marked as unused. Love Myself also includes a piano version, Now, When You Laugh. There are versions for piano and orchestral performances.
Returning to the prologue two years ago
The 2016 ZERO prologue goes back to two years before I. Watanabe had just joined Investigation Division One, and Madara Neko invited him to be his partner; The school's mission is to investigate whether Shigemura is connected to Netsect. Suspected plot and confirmed connections are recorded separately.
I./II. Production credits
kow@suhito is responsible for directing, programming, and production management; @lice is responsible for the main script; Nichino handles character design, key animation, and coloring; and Hara handles system CG. Alice, Tomie, Senior Anzai, and Ruby each have public voice credits, with background music provided by G9Fried.
