Urban legends in summer

During summer vacation, the four of them chatted casually at their usual family restaurant. Saten suggests searching for something that can make people feel a chill from the heart. A group of elementary school students then enter the shop, and among them, a girl tries to ask Mikoto for help. The usual gathering leads to a new investigation, and the story uses original game plots supervised by Kazuma Kamachi.

Gather clues from conversations

The conversation section is advanced through full voice acting, where players pick up topics called Topics from character conversations. They contain important information about events, which can be collected and then used in subsequent discussions. What we hear is therefore not just for reading, but also determines whether the survey can be steered in a new direction.

Two modes of discussion and reasoning

Girls Talk allows the four to discuss their next steps; the topics and timing of these topics will influence the branches. Judgement is used to organize puzzles in each chapter; correct reasoning improves the scale, while wrong judgments may lead to failure. Players should follow the ongoing conversation to find connections, rather than just choosing a single reply in a fixed position.

Event logs and game versions

The game provides event notes to help you understand routes you've already taken; Some branches and failed endings are also part of the collection scope. The game was released on PSP on December 8, 2011, featuring adventure and mystery formats; On the same platform, 'A Certain Magical Index' also features action games, but this game is not a recast version of its combat system.

Urban legends of summer vacation

Mikoto, Kuroko, Hatsuharu, and Saten chat in a restaurant when an elementary school student accidentally mentions the haircut monster in the open space. Mikoto gets to know Kajia Haza among them, and this rumor about haircuts gradually becomes the starting point for the four's investigation.

Characters and Cast

Mikoto is voiced by Rina Sato, Kuroko by Satomi Arai, Hatsuharu by Aki Toyosaki, and Saten by Kanae Ito. After Marriage, Wannei, Paofu, Gufa, Yomikawa, and Jia Shajia are also listed as corresponding actors in the game profile.

Reasoning driven by the topic

Conversation collection topics: the girls' conversation mode requires timely engagement of topics, while the judgment mode uses information combination reasoning. Wrong choices may lead to a Bad End; The chase phase also features timed button input 3D action performances. J.C.STAFF created event CGs and added new animations.

The theme song is linked with the archive

"way to answer" is performed by fripSide, with lyrics by yuki-ka and Satoshi Yaginuma, composed and arranged by Satoshi Yaginuma, and released as a single on December 14, 2011. When linking with the PSP "A Certain Index," you must keep the same card to clear the previous Touma arc and save the game, unlocking the Mikoto arc set in "A Certain Index."

PSP version recording format

The dialogue segments are recorded separately by the actors, while the in-game animations feature the four main actors acting together. Aki Toyosaki rewatched the DVD while preparing Hatsuharu's voice, then entered the game to record it.
