《Angel Beats! 1st beat'
Responsible for the TV animation director for this work.
The 2010 Angel Beats! team coordinated with the show
Hironori Toba recalls: Jun Maeda hopes "Angel Beats!" will focus on comedy. When selecting the director, he considered the performance of comedy and emotional scenes, communication with the author, and the ability to lead a young team, inviting Seiji Kishi to participate in the 2010 TV anime.
To expand the concept of the animation's art design, Kishi collaborated with Takehiko Matsumoto and P.A.WORKS design production staff member Koyanagi to conduct research.
Looking back in 2022, Kishi said that to fit a large amount of content into a limited runtime, he asked editor Ayumi Takahashi to advance the comedy quickly, and that the drama parts should have a sense of stretch even if time was limited. Takahashi responded to this request through editing adjustments.
During the recording of dialogue, actors worried that certain reactions might make the character emotionally unstable. Kishi clearly responded that this was possible, in order to preserve the character's state in the script.
